Intercooler Sprayer Question

Besides the AEM logo, what's the difference between the two?

I own a snow kit and ill tell you the difference...

The AEM setup if a nice kit for the simple fact that the pump is boost controlled. meaning, there is no tuning nightmares on a dyno to get the setup spraying correctly. Secondly, the tank size and the fluid level indicator is standard.

I got away from using the tiny tank on my truck because i changed hoods on my truck. The new hood didnt have windshield washer squirters, so i converted my 2 gallon washer res to a meth res.

I thought that the stage 2 snow kit is boost controlled as well? In any case, I wasn't knocking AEM or defending Snow; I just wanted to see what the reasoning was. Thanks for the info! (thumb)

Best bet is to tie the kit to your EMS.
Screw the included controller or Hobbs switch!
Drive it on a MAP in the engine management.
That way, you can have multiple factors decide how much and when.

Maybe a dumb question, but how much does outside air temp affect performance of the TMIC?

Winter is here at 8600 feet in Colorado. But to be honest, I don't notice much difference in power versus ambient temps. You would think that driving around in 15 degree temps would be better than water or other cooling techniques.

??????

I think going with a water/meth kit is asking for trouble. A distilled water sprayer would be a good option if the nozzle flow was controlled. Some of the new STIs have that option. I would rather spray it water on my intercooler rather than a meth/water mixture into my engine. I love my 3 but I questions the ability for it to accept such a mod.

all STi have the water on the intercooler option it helps but not much water meth you can tune to add a lot of power there is someone on forums running watewr meth making 400 whp. the water meth cools the intake and also adds to detnation resistance with it you can tune for a high octane mode like you were running 100 oct ben there done it on srt-4 stage 2 with toys

Chemical intercooling has been around for many many years and is (in some cases) the best form of intercooling you can have. If you use a reputable company and install the kit profesionally then this is an awsome way to free up some HP in any car.

Its only drawback really is that it runs out.
As long as you stay on top of it, it should work just fine.

I'm just not a big fan of stuff that runs out.

Its bad enough that I have to fill it with gas, but at least I get a warning for that and I ALWAYS know how far I've gone and how much farther I can go.

With H2O and NO2, its pay-to-play-per-play and I'm not a big fan of slot machines, either.

Stage 2 ties into your MAF, which i have but it still needs tuning with different nozzles and stuff because i can hit +3.4V in my truck with no boost and it would start spraying.

The 2.3 MZR is already pretty tapped-out on power.
The cooler temps just mean you have a wider margin of safety.

I dont agree with this statement. Sure, methanol adds safety, but with the cooler, denser charge, people have laid down as low as 30hp with meth injected into their cars with a CPE setup. Add a new fuel pump to the mix and tune on high timing and you may come out ahead at 50hp to the wheels. You would easily be hitting 103 Octane if mixed 50/50.
