Honda Civic MUGEN Si set for October release in the U.S.!

body changes? I doubt they'll do anything drastic.... what they NEED to do is give it the jdm tails.... they also need to lose that little window in front of the side mirrors... which aren't placed where they belong imo. I guess tha'ts the price you pay for aerodynamics... personally, I hate that s***. dealbreaker on the eclipse... dealbreaker on this car.

Haha, I've always hated those little windows too. In fact, I've never really liked much about the car in general. lol

hahahahahahaha

I have a soft spot for special edition Hondas. Unfortunately, so do a lot of people. They are more coveted by thieves than your Pay Pal password. An Acura Integra Type R or Honda Civic Si usually does a disappearing act when parked on dimly lit street. Apparently not even the latest generation Honda Civic Si is immune from the Honda curse. One car dealership has learned what every modified Honda owner knows; do not park your limited edition 2008 Mugen Honda Civic Si in an open lot. Thus, the 1,000 allotted Mugen Civic Si's slated for the United States are now down to 999. Before it could even reach the hands of an eager enthusiast, one Mugen Si was raided in the night while parked on a dealership lot. The thieves smashed a window, took the wheels, seats, badges, and shift knob, among other misc. items. The car was found by dealership employees perched on two jackstands and the front rotors. Sights like this really break my heart. I hope karma comes back and bites those who did the crime. Saw that last night. Hilarious. Maybe they should have parked it in a more visible part of the lot.

"Let's put it in the back, as close to that shady warehouse as possible."

something tells me insurance on this car is going to be high lol

all 1000 of them are going to end up like this

Yeah, no s***. I've had my '99 Si end up like that. I can only imagine if you doubled the price and made 1/10th as many.

If it was only 2k more than a regular Si, perhaps...but close to 30K (probably more after dealer markup) for a CIVIC!!!! No hp or torque gains over the standard motor, plus it doesn't really even look that nice. What the heck were they smoking. They need to either turbo that thing or use the motor from the S2k. something! That thing barely has more torque than my P5

hhhhhmmmmmm a Civic Si w/ a body kit and wheels or a EvoX GSR....hmmmmm HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD decision lol

I wouldn't be surprised if more than a couple of these didn't get locked away in warehouses and show up at Barrett-Jackson in 20-30 years. By then, the Honda fanboys of today will have grown up and made some money, and these will probably go for quite a bit. Just like '60s musclecars are doing now.

Man I hope you're wrong.

Up next on the Barrett-Jackson auction block: A Mugen Honda Civic last driven by Cory Haim & Cory Feldman in: The Fast and The Furious 6: Torqueless wonders! The bidding will start at 50K!

Those old musclecars (despite their atoricous handling, non-existent brakes & spotty build quality) had attitude & character going for them. This......no so much.

Then again, since in 10 years we will all be driving electric cars with 50 horsepower, this thing might be a beast!

I have to agree...I dont see todays cars being like the cars of old. They just dont have the personality and history as the older hotrods do

The only reason those cars go for so much is the nostalgia of the guys bidding. Love it or hate it, sport compacts are the muscle cars of our era. In Mazda terms, pretend you found a stock MS3 with 300 miles on it in 2042.

I don't think it will be quite the same as those cars, because they're only going to continue making the cars we have today better and faster. I think what makes those cars valuable is the perception that they don't make anything like them today. The oil crisis of the late '70s did a lot for the value of the older muscle cars, and even with our current problems, these cars aren't going to go away, because they're only 4-bangers.

All of that said, something this ridiculously limited in production and overpriced is going to be rare enough that I think it might be a decent investment. There are very few cars that are rare enough to end up being a collector's item, but when you take into account that many of these cars don't escape in stock form, it makes the ones that do that much more valuable.

Since we won't use roads anymore but teleport places with just the power of our minds, I imagine it would be pretty useless. :)

The "sport compact tuners" could definetly be the collector cars of our era. A CRX with low miles that is in pristine condition is selling for more than it sold for new. And thats a crappy little car.

In the 2000's cars changed dramatically from the 1980-90's <----those cars will NEVER be collector cars because they don't have the power or style. Cars now have plenty of power right from the factory and will certainly hold there value much better than the cars of the previous 20 years. If you follow the collector car scene the cars with little power are NOT the ones that are coveted, cars have to have big power/speed to sell. Therefore, cars like the Evo 9 (which is very rare and fast) will hold value, but the first Mugen Si might not hold value based on its low power even though it is very rare.

One thing that could KILL any car values of course will be gas prices and availablity, so we will have to see what happens there before judgement.
