2008.5 MAZDASPEED3 - Now in CRYSTAL WHITE and METROPOLITAN GRAY

I love how nobody's givin the Metro Gray any love. I love white as well... but feel the MG color fits the car's personality more. Reminds me of the photos Subaru has released of the new Sti.

Found this on another site... some dude photoshopped what he thinks the new interior (minus the gauges) will look like. Pretty cool... but certainly nothing to go crazy about imo.

All this talk from CB owners about how cool it is for their color to be MS specific and all... shut it! lol no offense but... I'm just not feelin that color. Everytime I see one, it looks purple to me. Granted, having an orange MSP, I know a thing or two about love it/hate it colors so my opinion really means jack... but it's NOT a reason to go buy one. Hell, if Mazda had a puke green color that was specific to the mazdaspeed3... would you urge people to buy one for that reason? of course not. in the end, it comes down to the color... what looks good and... well, what doesn't.

Lastly... I'm bummed about Silver being discontinued. That to me was the best color. It matched the wheels perfectly and, for whatever reason, that looked sweet.

As much as I'd like to get a silver... buying a car like this right before/during the winter season isn't smart. So... I'll be holding out like most of you for either a white or that metro gray... The cool thing about the MG is, like the silver matching the wheels, it won't be hard to achieve the same effect (on the stock wheels no less). A little excess brake dust and you're all set! haha

Forgot to mention...

who gives a s*** about mp3 compatibility? Get an ipod (or whatever) and plug it in to your aux.... (or, even better, get one of those connectors)

The CD medium is on its last leg. Is anyone actually still burning cds? haha Seriously... this shouldn't be a reason to hold out for a new one.

I burn MP3 CD's all the time. For road trips and such. That will probably stop when I get my sansa view though.

I guess I'm assuming all of us (since we're gen x/y) have MP3 players. Assuming you do, all it takes is a $5 cable from radio shack to connect it to your aux port (found in your center armrest people) and you're in business. Instead of burning CDs (which is tedious, costly and annoying) you simply sync whatever it is you want to your MP3 player of choice and hit the road.

The ONE downside (with the setup I mentioned) is that your battery won't charge while you're connected... meaning you couldn't go on a LONG roadtrip...

and you dont get the capability to control the mp3 player with the steering wheel/console controls

Yup. 10 hr drive. 2 MP3 Cds and I'm set there and back. Although for around town, hooking up your MP3 player is the better choice.

Exactly! And it doesn't sound NEARLY as good as a CD. The aux jack is OK but I would much prefer the CD deck to play MP3's.

And anyways, someone just broke my window to steal my MP3 player that I had in my car :(

though it's a stretch... there ARE MP3 players that can handle a 10hour jaunt. But regardless... there are car chargers for those things so even that's not an excuse. The ability to change the track/volume though... good point. Then again, if that's your only gripe... just get that ipod connection that allows you to control it from your HU.

I guess my point is... just like tape slots no longer exist in cars, CD slots will soon follow.

We have had the white for a while (Canada) and I think it is fierce looking - I think that's the best word to describe it - fierce!
I love it and am glad you US folks get to enjoy it too.
I like the charcoal, though I don't think it looks as sharp. I know there was already a bit of a discussion about white vs black earlier, but can any Canadian who has a white one comment on how dirty it gets? Especially in winter with sand/salt/mud? Is it easy to clean the pollen/bugs off in the summer?

When is all of this slated to happen?

I've read through the posts -- but either I'm blind, really forgetful, or no one mentioned it -- when are the 08.5 models supposed to be rolling out here?

I'm looking to trade/sell my current car, and I need to time things right. It'd be nice to wind up with the latest and greatest (debatable, i suppose).

Also -- will there be a price hike? Sounds to me like the upgrades = upgraded cost, right? It'd be nice if our dealership friend could answer some of these questions.

thanks!
