Downpipe, racepipe, and stock catback

Who here is running this? How much louder would this be than stock? And how much power are you giving up by leaving the stock catback in place?

Tru-boost...you know where this question came from:)

I am having a few complaints from the neighbors with my Vibrant...and I eventually want a downpipe, without all hell breaking loose from the Desperate Housewifes, my wife, calls her friends around here.

Im curious what my options are.... and how this would effect my final power numbers, even if I eventually go big turbo. I know Cobb is gonna eventually offer a quieter option. Maybe that will be the solution.

Thoughts on this?

BTW... my wife has been complaining but she hasnt figured out I actually installed anything yet. Isnt that a little hilarious? She just thinks she didnt "notice it" as much as before....(thumb)

where in NC are you?

im just north of charlotte

my racepipe should be here soon, and then the dp is next...

Thanks for all the opinions..(sarcasm). Here is a link where turbo xs claims 40-50 hp with the stock catback in place.

So even with 3inch pipe up front, apparently the catback is more or less a noise cannon. I dont believe that but it would nice for someone to agree with me.

Editted with the right link....lol

I think the quote "Want the most performance out of your Mazdaspeed 3 and dont care who knows it?" and "Killer Sound" pretty much answer your question. If the neighbors are complaining now they are sure to really complain with this set up.

I work nights and when I am rumbling in at 7am with my Vibrant exhaust I have to be easy on the gas, because I know they hear me.

I still think it is funny your wife does not know. Good one.

I've got the CS downpipe, PG racepipe, and intake with a stock catback.

I took off pretty normally and as you can see, it's not loud at all.

ok so i have the MS cat back. i am wondering about getting the corksport DP and leaving the second cat. would that be weird?

Apparently not weird at all. Even though its the exact opposite of my route.

BTW... the video of the CS downpipe and racepipe with stock catback... Id have to say its meaner than the Vibrant. Bottom line... I think pretty much any exhaust modification that opens it up is also going to make it considerably louder. Not a big deal if your younger.... but a little older, married, and four kids?.... I get annoyed if its bothering people. I feel about it the same way I do when my lawn looks like crap..... that I need to do something about it.

But I love the sound.... Im not gonna worry about it. **** it, AND, anybody who complains. Unless my wife figures it out.... then Im screwed....lol. She knows I spent a grand on gauges but I dont want her to know I modded the exhaust... she'll think Im redneck. The power is pointless to her. She'll think I did it for the noise no matter what I tell her. Its just how it is for me.

I will have the corksport DP and custom test pipe installed with stock exhaust in a few days, i will let you know how it turns out. I will try and post dyno too!

Who the hell cares what your neighbors think??? Its your car and you can do what you want with it. Just don't beat on it on the neighborhood streets. Can you imagine having my setup on your car. You they would prolly flip...but wtf I could care less.
