CP-E MS6 dual exhaust may be coming

I don't usually visit these forums... I should... But anyway!

You guys are saying 800-850 for dual exhaust with quality mufflers that won't drone terribly? Cork-Sport is set to release a dual setup for 700 shortly... However the tiny round mufflers they use are going to be really loud from the look of things!

And considering the quality CP-e has shown me in the products thus-far! I'm willing to dump an extra 100-150 and pick your dual system up! So let us know more details when you can! How many are required for group-buy... and so on!

I'm in the market for a dual-exhaust! And I know MANY others are as well! Though... quite a few have already settled with single... or custom-dual from some random shop.

I haven't been very interested in buying a catback for my car for a while.

But I definetely am interested, especially if it isn't going to be loud.

When would you enter production, basically when could I have one at my door?

Okay, we finalized the pricing and details of the catback. Here's the scoop...

We're well aware of the fact that other companies are releasing dual exhausts for the SPEED6, most of which are manufactured in China, so there's very little that we can do to compete with their prices. Labor is cheap overseas, the materials are far cheaper, and the work is done out of house which frees up employees to work on other projects. But since all of our products are 100% made in the USA, we are at a disadvantage in a sense, you guys need to consider if the added quality is worth paying for. If not, then we'll simply concentrate our efforts on other upcoming products. So we won't be blown if you guys decide on the less expensive options out there because we have other exciting projects that we can work on, trust me ;). But we'd love to make this dual exhaust if the interest is there too!

Anyway, we decided on using 201 stainless because of it's high corrosion resistance and lower cost relative to 304 stainless. Even better, we're going to be using material that is high polished, as opposed to the bright annealed finish our other exhaust components feature. We also decided to use the more expensive and quieter oval mufflers that we use on our SPEED3 shown below. The mufflers are 304 stainless, hand TIG'd, and sound incredible:

You can download sound clips of our SPEED3 exhaust from our website to get an idea of what these mufflers sound like on the Turbo MZR:

The MSRP is set at $850, and for this group buy we can swing a price tag of $800 (down from $1100!!). If this sounds reasonable then we'll go ahead and start production. I'm anxious to hear some feedback, so please let me know what you guys think!

Looks great. I might need to grab one to get this BIG TURBO to spool up a lil faster.

As I have said for some time now, SIGN ME UP!!!

Now if only enough other people agree with me...

Price is not that far off...

I too need to venture out of the other forum more often as well... (peep)

I think the price isn't too far out of range considering my previous units from HKS and Borla. As long as their isn't any drone on the highway under LOAD I would be very satisfied. I know a 4 cylinder will never sound like a 350Z even after installing an exhaust, as long as it is about the same volume/pitch, I am SOLD!!! (thumb)

Alright, this project is a "go!" (band)

If you want to get in on it, please give us a call and we'll take all of your information. And as in cp-e tradition, we won't charge your credit card until the product ships!

You can call us at 301-576-6142 and speak with either myself, or Josh Adams. As soon as we have 10 people on the list we'll start production, which could take anywhere from two to four weeks. If you guys have more questions, please keep shooting them off and I'll try to answer them as best I can.

Edit: We got our first "official" pre-order today, so we're 1/10 :D
Edit: We're now up to 5/10 (nana)

Jordan,

Just to get a good idea of this exhaust, are you using one muffler located upstream of the Y-pipe, or are you using 2 mufflers located downstream?

Also, am I correct in assuming you are using 3 inch all the way back?

Thanks

Here's what Jordan posted elsewhere on 08 August:

Thanks a lot for all of the support, and the feedback guys. I feel like we'd be lost if you all didn't tell us what you're thinking, so thanks for the candid responses.

I absolutely understand the argument that people aren't going to want to buy a product before they've even seen, or heard it. In fact, I think that's right-on in this case, and people just don't want to put $800 down on a product that they may not like. Our hope was that the sound clip from the MS3 would be enough to satisfy people since we'll be using the same mufflers, and its the same engine, but the sound will be slightly different due to the dual exits. So, no worries, we get it.

We've started work on the dual exhaust and its going well so far. We've designed a proper y-split at the rear, so it won't be like the factory "T" that the stock catback features. We're also using 3" pipe throughout, so the rear exit pipes will be a full 3" instead of being reduced down to some smaller diameter. We're also going to start work on integrating the single 12" muffler into the single outlet catback once we finish the dual outlet setup. So we've got quite the "to-do" list ahead of us.

If I had to guess when we might finish production on the dual outlet exhaust, I think 4-5 weeks isn't an unreasonable estimate. We should be able to wrap up the prototype, setup for production, and produce the units in that time...assuming that there are no surprises

As soon as I'm given the thumbs up I'll post some pictures, though I don't know when that might be. I'll post more info as I get it.

There are no sound clips available as this setup isn't in production. The first time anyone will get to hear it will be once they finish the mock-up. What Jordan has said they are going to do is produce enough for those of us (like me) who have put our money down. Once that is done they will add the dual exhaust to their catalog, however unless something changes you will be paying more for it.

Now I just have to wait another month...

Bumping this up for an update. cp-e is getting close to producing this exhaust. They have sound clips up on their site along with pictures. They have also stated that they will be inclluding this in their catalog as a regular item. I am on the list and waiting...

Price where? the price from earlier? Is that a definitive price though, the finalized one?

I know autoexe has that carbon fiber Short Ram Intake for like 1300?? That is ridiculous.

I need to check out the sound clips though, cause right now Its a toss up for me from the Corksport to the Magnaflow...

wow. look at that price. Thats almost as bad as autoexe charging $1000+ for two mufflers! haha

You are an idiot. I normally don't respond to this sort of thing, but based on your other posts I can't restrain myself.

If you have nothing positive to add then don't. I am merely trying to impart some info to people to permit them to see there are multiple choices. Maybe you think this is an excessive price but if you were to do some research then you would find out otherwise. This is only $100 more than Corksport is charging, and by all accounts their solution is loud.

We all have different levels of what is affordable and what isn't. Instead of saying something is exorbitant why not just say hey, that's out of my budget and let it go? Oh I forgot, this is the Internet and everyone is entitled to their 15 seconds of fame.

Awesome...... so since the Corksport is $700 that makes the CP-E dual exhaust $800, right? Since it's only $100 on top of the Corksport..... that will put a hampering on my decision....... hmmm

I'm gonna check out the final price and anyone's personal review before I decide on an exhaust.... (huh) This is tough.

haha you just answered your own question:

this is a public forum. if you dont like my opinion then why not just say" hey, that's not my opinion and let it go?" Oh I forgot, this is the Internet and you deal with people who have a 3rd grade education.

Go buy your 1000+ dollar exhaust now.

yeah i mean i bought the front mount from cp-e and its awesome..i had a local shop make me an exhaust for 300 plus the cost for my carbon ti's.. it ended up being the same amount as cp-e's but i feel better knowing it was designed by me and the shop, then by someone else.. im more of a DIY guy the only things ive bougth for the car was the front mount and the intake everything else is done custom by me. but thats my opinion.

although now that ive got the piping im thinking of getting a bigger front mount then cp-e's and doing a custom job on that as well.. but thats another story
