Whats with the penguin?
washed and waxed. it needed it bad. havent had time w/ school and work.
I did the same! You should have drove up to the NEPOC meet...it was another great time!
Yup....another road trip to visit the NEPOC crew for a wash and wax meet. While I was at it, the car rolled over 94k, changed the battery (it was nasty), flushed the coolant, installed new spark plugs and coil packs - with Bruce's help!
Also noticed a squeaking noise coming from the passenger side on the way home...will have to investigate more tomorrow.
Finally, and I mean finally, completed the instal of my AFC today. Well, the wires are still exposed and the ECU is out in the open but that's because I didn't want to put everything back together just to find out something isn't working. Well she started up the first time, but later on when she was fully warmed up I was running into some idling issues - no vac leaks or anything - just irratic idle. It seemed to clear itself up later on and seems to be running okay for now. I currently have it so the car's stock tune is running. The tuning process will commence later - I love the wideband input on the V2!
what did you do to flush the coolant? i dont have a flush machine.... as far as going to the NEPOC...it would have taken me a while coming from Jacksonville, FL. lol
Yeah that was my thought but I always thought it took like 300 miles for it to clear up. Must have just been a hiccup or something - I guess I'll find out when I take her out today to start road tuning. I need to put her back together first.prolly just ECU getting crazy on ya with the idle but it always fixes itself.
Flushing the coolant was very easy.
**I am at stock height so I was able to do this without jacking the car up**
1) Loosen the rad cap
2) Pull the 'trap door' down that is underneath the radiator
3) Use a phillips screwdriver to loosen the black screw (you might have a white one that resembles a wing nut) and make sure you have a container ready to catch the coolant. I bought a 10qt one at Autozone.
4) When it is done draining, remove the hose that connects the resorvoir bottle to the radiator and pinch. Then hold it over the catch can and let the bottle empty.
5) Replace the screw in the bottom of the rad and fill the radiator with a hose
6) Next let the engine run until you get to operating temp
7) Repeat steps 3, 5 and 6 one more time
8) Replace the screw in the bottom of the rad and fill with coolant...finish by filling the resorvoir bottle to the fill line.
9) I used Prestone coolant that was prediluted so no mixing was necessary.
Got another CEL because of the who the hell knows why. I mean I know why, but I just dont understand it. So I reset the ECU![]()
^-- this is proof that John wants a P5... he keeps posting in the p5 thread. (cabpatch)
