How can I get this guy? Paid him $150 paypal and he didn't ship part

Nomad you should file a complaint with paypal if you feel that you really have been wronged. But let me ask you this...do you have a credit card on paypal or just a bank account? If you dont have a credit card the payment isnt even immediate...you have to wait 4 days to get the payment verified...so if that's the case you are all over this guys case just cause he waited for the deposit to clear. Even if you do have a credit card and the payment was immediate I think you are really jumping the gun. I have had deals that took up to three weeks to complete where there were shipping issues and payment issues and I thought I was getting scammed, but in reality it was the fact that both of us were not really experienced buyers or sellers because we were just forum members trying to make it work. The dude never scammed me even though I had thoughts that he might be.

But because I handled it calmly I ended up getting my money back and still remained friend's with the guy despite the fact the deal didnt work out. The guy is probably just a forum member and not some company who's best interest is to get your part out ASAP and hope he gets repeat business. In fact I wouldnt be suprised if you have pissed him off so much that he does just keep your money.

If you feel you got taken then just take it up with paypal.

No prob, I just filed with paypal.
Sometimes I can be hotheaded. Glad most of you don't have that issue.
Besides, I took the info off.

PayPal protection is for s***. If the person has closed out their account then you get screwed (first hand experience). I agree the OP should not get up in arms after a week, but as he says the person he bought from dropped out of sight after being paid. Lack of communication would make me leery too. Also, if you are listing things for sale then you should be able to send things along in a timely fashion. I know more than a few of you have sold things on this forum and I am sure you took care of your buyers. This comes down to being a responsible person which not everyone is.

I'm not trying to justify what the OP did in posting personal info (which he has since deleted), but I do understand his frustration with the situation.

I hopoe paypal laughs at you for only waiting a week for an item..Fo all you know its in the mail already.
I can tell you how many times I have gotten an item shipped and the I just get busy and by the time I give a tacking number..The item is already there.
Your a real piece of work man.

Actually, I know it is not in the mail, that's the problem.

You're right CrashKelly, I do have little patience sometimes.

I guess previous experience makes me leery. I'll get people's phone number next time and contact them direct, that would be better than email. See... I think I learned something. :P

I'll go by the example here on the board and not jump on someone immediately when you don't agree with them. Oh wait... nevermind.

ForceFed, I am a real piece of work. :)

I think this thread is now dead.

Actually, the moderator (SeanMcSean) took the info off. But regardless, glad you learned something. Nobody on here is perfect... we all F up in our own unique sort of ways. Being man/woman enough to admit when you're wrong (and most importantly) make sure it never happens again is the key. Good luck with your part.

Yeah, he took "some" info off, I took the rest of it off in entirety.
But yeah, wish me luck.

He's bitching about me getting info on him, but after 3 days has made NO mention of shipping or refunding.

Paypal protection is crap. Everyone knows that. Even if they side in your favor, there is little chance your money will be refunded.
1 week is enough time for the guy to transfer the money to his bank account.

no money in the paypal acct=no money to give to you :(. if the guy just drops off the face of the earth, Then yes ID BE PISSED. Forcefed your telling me that if you purchased something be it 5 dollars or even 500 dollars, you would not be worried if the dude just stop contacting you all together, as in this case. Like I said above you guys put way to much trust into people. Some people are ruthless and will take any chance to grab your money and run.

Everyone should do themselves a favor and tie a solid (not some cheesy one you got in the mail one day) credit card to their paypal account. that way, if worse came to worse, you could fall back on the CC company.

I can't tell you how many times I've had to use Amex to fight my battles... and fight them they did.

yeah but not everyone has access to credit cards...or wants access to them. They are honestly the biggest rip off ever. There is nothin worse than being in debt to a cc compay!

youre only in debt if you let yourself be. the best way to use a credit card to stay out of debt is to only pay for items you know you can pay off when the bill comes in.

in either case, I agree with both sides... paypal protection is overrated at best, but he shouldnt have posted all the info after a week. if he doesnt ship and paypal falls through, then I agree with the posting of info.

credit cards are the bigger rip of ever??? lol as bigham said, they're only a ripoff if you're a complete moron. why anyone would deliberately leave a balance on their card at the end of the month is beyond me. buy what you can afford... pay for all/most of it on a credit card... earn points and be protected in the process. pretty simple if you ask me. certainly not a ripoff.

Whats posting his information gonna do? Other than make his research on this dude whos hes gotten bad service from available to all other members for future information.

I find it very unlikely anyone on these forums would use that information to hunt down and kill the guy... getting justice for the week+ delayed shipment!

So after he complained about me calling him out, now he doesn't return my emails and did not return the Paypal dispute resolution email either.

I know this fool's online every day too. So don't tell me he "didn't have enough time" to check his mail in 3 days while he posted in forums.

So now tell me he isn't a scammer...

yeah, that's pretty weak dude.

have you been iming/emailing him to death?

assuming you haven't... try this approach. it just might work.

It's fair to say he's PO'ed about what you did. It's also fair to say that he, like most 20 year olds, has an ego. Thinks the world is his oyster... s*** don't stink... and any other cliche you want to throw in. (didn't you say he drives a freakin beamer?) lol so here's what I suggest....

you want your part right? (let's hope he's not reading this) suck it up and apologize. that's right, apologize. explain your side but resist the temptation to sprinkle in a "but you still suck" type of comment. make it all about you... and how much you regret what you did.

before you dismiss this idea.... realize there's some sound logic behind it. I can give you countless examples as proof but it's not necessary. just take my word for it.

now here's the key. don't end your email on a "and now that I've said that... I want my damn part b****!" instead... don't even mention the part! I realize it may be difficult for you. afterall, you may have the same ego he has. but if you want your part... do what I say. psychologically speaking, your humility will actually reverse things in his mind. suddenly he'll be saying "no no.... it wasn't your fault it was mine." why? because you catered to one of his most basic needs. to feel superior. suddenly, he can see things clearly and realizes how wrong HE was. because you didn't mention the part... his brain will automatically bring it up. thus giving him a feeling of 'control'.

I'm probably not articulating this very well... i'm sort've in a hurry here. assuming this guy is NOT a scammer... and is, instead, yet another immature dickhead... this approach WILL work.

good luck man

I'm with you man. Actually, most of my emails have been along the lines of "Hey, I know stuff happens in life so I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt. If it's too much hassle then just return the money and we're cool."

or

"You seem like a cool guy form your other posts, if it weren't for this issue we'd probably be talking about cars and MMA or something. All I need is the communication about refund or shipping the part."

That type of thing.
He knows I'm pissed and was surprised I had his middle name, address, phone, mom's name... So he knows I'm serious. Today I told him that dodging this is acting like a pure scammer that he swears he's not.

After I changed the paypal status to collection, he just now sent me an email that he'll be shipping it out tomorrow. No mention of anything.

I'll be inspecting the package and contents well. We'll see how it goes.
