Nope, the styling IMO is sleek and upscale; those rims look like they belong on a Civic. Sorry if that hurts your feelings.

I would be interested in seeing pictures of these SEMA CX7's; I'd bet they aren't otherwise stock and I bet they're lowered. Just a hunch, though.

Sorry to say but i have to agree 100% on this . Not the right rims for the application .

The CX-7 is on the sporty side of SUV's but if I ever got one all I would change is rims and drop! fini! Theres only so much you can "sensibly" do to an SUV.

Yea, all those soccer moms go to SEMA to see all the tuner cx's. Whatever. The cx is a platform ready for tuning. You should see what they are doing to them in Japan.
anyway you slice it...it's an SUV. Sorry man.

Cost of Tires and Wheels

I'm not an expert, but I'm guessing that $4K may not be unreasonable. The original post didn't specify what tires or rims were on that display vehicle.

Out of curiosity, I went to Tire Rack. Not being picky, I simply picked a set of rim, tires, TPMS, etc and priced it. Here's what I got.

20x9 ASA JH8 Chrome Plated $354.00 $1,416.00
245/45ZR20 Goodyear Eagle RS-A Blackwall $207.00 $828.00
TPMS SENSOR $55.00 $220.00
TPMS NUT $7.50 $30.00
UPS Ground shipping $115.00

These tires and wheels will be mounted and balanced at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE

total $2609.

I'm not sure what it'd cost to remove your old tires and install the new set, but add those costs to the $2609. I'm sure if I chose "fancier" rims and high performance tires, the cost, with installation, could easily approach $4K.

It all depends on what your budget is and your percepton of whether or not that $4K is excessive. You gotta do your homework.

Vince.

There are alot of comments out there from people who don't own one! My suggestion is to test drive the car! Stock vs. stock, this thing will shred a tc or civic. I've actually put a few modded integras in their place!

That said, I won't be putting chrome on this car either. Nice silver 20s, low profiles and a decent drop would do fine! Problem right now is that there is no drop kit for this car. Eibach is working on one, but in the meantime there are no other options.

Again..it's still an SUV and if you bought it to show you can beat a Civic or a TC..well I don't really have an answer for that.

If you are so concerned about beating ricers..why put 20's on your CX-7 and slow it down?

And for what it's worth I HAVE driven one. It's a nice entry level SUV.

Not really concerned about beating ricers (I'm 28 and pretty much past that), but just wanted to make a point. Basically, tuners are an opinionated bunch and think it is just fine to tune a 98 hp xB or a 105 hp Fit, but throw in a sporty SUV with almost 250 hp and whoah!!!

No beef though and sorry I assumed that you had not driven one!(hippy)

Dosn't hurt my feelings. Actually, I think it's pretty funny. The rims on my CX are the exact same size and design pattern as the stock wheels. The only difference is mine are gray and crome to match my CX but the pattern is identical. If that makes them tunerish then I guess the stock wheel is tunerish.

I've yet to see aftermarket rims that look nice, IMO... and this one is no exception. Looks like some kid got his hands on Mom's car and did a poor job "tricking it out" to impress his friends.

CX-7 is the wifes, but I'd really like do some mods(drop). IMO it'll give it a better look. The problem is, its a lease.....

TSW has a good line-up of wheels right now.

The vortex looks great in my opinion. I like the mondello too, but I may be a bit biased on that one ;)

+1 on the vortex rims. I didn't like them until I actually saw them on a car. Spokes that extend to the edge of the rim make them look bigger than they are. The opposite it true for deep dish rims...

You are exactly right. Deep lips make the wheels looks smaller. But on a lowered vehicle there is no matching the look of a deep lip wheel. My BMW has 19" deep dish mesh style wheels on it and everyone things they are 20's because the car sits low on them.

If you are leaving your CX stock height... go with wheels that extend to the edge of the wheel as suggested above. It will look a ton better. Those wheels linked above are pretty nice actually, might be rethinking dropping and lipping mine.

Those rims look soooo outdated, Ppl want gangsta ultra deep lips on their CX-7 rims not those outdated rims.

eh... to each their own but around here its the ultra deep lips that are pretty dated. they can still look sharp but they're a dime a dozen and "pimping" has shifted to a more "complementary to the original design of the car" style rather than the "look how wide my body kit is and did I blind you with chrome & carbon fiber" thing... which was fun in its day!
