I was just wondering if you can get a regular key programmed for the MS3. Instead of there little switch blade style key. I hate that big ass thing.
Any help would be appreciated

I asked the dealer about it, he said they were like 300-350 dollars or something. Also, apparently the 'switchblade' springs can break and it sucks if you lose the key. I think I'm just trying to justify to myself that the regular key is just fine, lol. They do look awesome and are fun to play with

Ya, I got mine in Wayne, NJ, and it definitely came with regular keys. I would LOVE to have the switch blade keys, but this whole breaking spring thing makes it a lot less interesting...

WTF, I called MazdaUSA and they told me that only the Canadian models were equipped with the flip key. I ever tried calling Canada requesting to purchase both the receiver and two flip keys so I can install it on my speed and they told me that it can not be done as I would not be able to program onto the U.S. model...

So how is this possible then. Did you buy the car used, maybe someone bought it in Canada then moved to the US and traded it in? IDK

I live out side of Detroit and every new Mazda key is the switch blade set up. And I hate it. So let me get this straight--all of you MS3 owners have reg keys

I have the reg. key also..By the way I was just in dearborn heights this weekend and also wixom and milford.I grew up in plymouth.

Well after re-reading his post he just wanted to know if there was a choice between the two I believe.

You don't own an MS3 do you Shamrock?

No, right now I am saving up for a nice down payment. But I soon hope to have a sunlight silver MS3 in my drive way. So please bare with me on some of the questions(hi)

I recently spent several hundred dollars trying to get the Canadian key transmitters and receivers to work on a USA MS3 and all i got was a tire pressure warning light. It will not work.

As for the key, yes, both keys can be used and programmed to start your car but it is pointless as the remote door lock transmitters will not communicate. The only benefit i see is someone with a flip key buying a regular key as a spare.

If you would have done a little more research you would have been several hundred dollars richer.

The problem was i did do research, i purchased from a reputable mazda source that unfortunatly was acting on misinformation. They assured me the cause for their misinformation no longer works there.

I have most of it back now, this one particular vender reimbursed me their cost and my additional cost. Still waiting on the bad postal service so i can get back the remaining $135 or so from another vender (shot in the dark) but it is promised to me so all is good.

hello, we sell keys and remotes online.. and you can get mazda 3 transponders keys only.. as for the remote part, i need the FCC ID #s of the inside of the key, remote side.. when you look inside where the key blade goes when closed, you will see a little square hole with a small tabe in it.. push that up towards the top of the key and two will come apart.. those numbers then mabey can be matched up to other mazda remotes that may be compatible.. just let me know, ill look into it.. -jason
