Cup holder inserts for CX-7?

06Si to CX-7

Hello everyone,

I am the proud owner of a brand new Copper Red CX-7 AWD, love it! I do miss my 06 Civic Si but with our baby on the way I had to get a Dad Mobile, and found the coolest one out there(rockon)

My question is...does anyone make some sort of plastic or rubber inserts for the cup holders? The CX-7 cup holders are way too big to hold a normal sized coffee mug or bottle of soda...when cornering hard the coffee mug can tend to bang around and even spill since the cup holder openings are so big!

I've also had a 2003 Mazda6i and I think that car had some sort of rubber inserts for the cup holders so a regular coffee mug fit perfectly.

Has anyone else found this to be a problem and are there any aftermarket cup holder inserts that would work on the CX-7? By the way this is the only gripe I have about my new CX-7...well, that and the fact that it didn't come with an I-Pod aux. jack. All new Hondas have this feature and it was awesome.

Thanks for your help

i havent seen any but im sure there is something out there for it.

im suprised mazda didnt think of it already. i wish there were more cupholders in the 2nd row too.

Thanks for the welcome, it seems like I always come back to Mazda! This is my third with a Ford and Honda in between the three Mazdas.

Those cup holders are perfect for a bladder buster Big Gulp soda but for regular plastic bottles and coffee mugs/cups they are HUGE... Anyone found this to be a problem, drinks falling over during hard cornering? Any DIY ideas on how to make the cup holder more accomodating for regular size drinks?

You might think this will look to cheap but it is a solution.

1)Get a piece of PVC pipe the diameter of the cupholder.

2)Trim it down so it fits flush.

3)Spray paint it black if you want to.

4)Get some heavy duty double sided tape and tape 4 little pieces of 1/8 inch or 1/4 inch (depending on how small of a object you want to hold) foam on the inside of the PVC pipe at 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock to hold whatever is in the middle nice and snug.

Would a koozie work???

A koozie might work I suppose if I can find one that is not too thick. I've had other cars that had these cupholder inserts (rubber) that you put in for smaller mugs/bottles, then you could take them out for larger drinks...I think my 2001 Mustang had those from the factory. I was hoping for something that looks OEM but so far my searches and browsing through Wal-mart have been unsuccessful.

I might try to find some black foam type material to make my own inserts or just cut down a koozie. Or maybe I should just stop cornering like I'm in NASCAR, ha ha. I just traded an 06 Civic Si so that is a hard habit to break! CX-7 handles very very well for a car this size though(headbang)

I couldn't find a picture of the one in my Volvo, but try this. If you think the one from the Mustang would fit the CX-7's cupholder, go to a Ford parts dept. and order one. (drinks)

Nice easy solution. By the way, are you the designer of the mobile laptop desk :)

One of these cupholder adapters may work, seems there's lots of different ideas out there http://www.iboats.com/Boat_Drink_Holders/dm/category_id.257658--view_id.257658

It appears to me that you would need the large. If you would measure across each of the cupholder openings I could tell you more. There is a sizing chart on my website. I will be glad to help you further once you give me the measurements.
