Going Forged

you cna do 220 wiht a stock motor

supporting mods:
full exhaust 3" turbo back
FMIC
WideBand(just to be safe)
CAI (duh, probably already have that)

What's a WideBand? What kind of FMIC and how much would the hardpipes run? And i'll have to say bye-bye to my Magnaflow exhaust and it's lifetime guarantee!!

a wideband O2 sensor is an oxygen sensor that's much more smart than the stock oxygen sensor..it is also much more sensible toward changes on the mixture and can give you more accurate reading of your Air/Fuel ratio.

a FMIC is....lol

anyways, get yourself a FMIC kit for about 600-700 bucks and you'll be set

Hey guys, wen going forged, set aside the need for rods and pistons, what else is needed to do a good job?

Head studs?
getting the crankshaft balanced etc....

Feedback please... I just wanna make sure i'm gonna be planning the right setps.

Thanks!

BTW, i'm aiming at a good 250whp. (flame2)

no need to get the crank shaft balanced....maybe verified, but most likely it'll be within spec...DO CHECK THO!

a honing on the block
new oil pump
new timing belt
new tensioners
new head studs
new bearings all around

about 500 bucks more on parts...

Okay, but wont the new parts be heavier that stock?

lol, i ain't no professional dude...

i'm just cheap...

cheap people have to learn how to do stuff by themselfs

the little money i have i'm not about to give to someone else to do stuff that i'm capable of doing...

that's all

i mean, if you have the means of paying for someone to do it...great! good for you....i can't, so i get greasy on the weekends
i'm about to drive my ride down to Miami to get some professional help!!!

excuse me, what?

Aren't the forged parts a little heavier than stock rods and pistons? I think question is simple! :P LOL

Might be a bad info i was given, but better to ask than be sorry! Never to careful, especially when running hi boost levels and 6500rpm's!

i'm hoping you are referring to balancing the crank...and if so, then you still maybe don't need to balance at all because you don't balance a crank with the pistons on it...

you balance it by itself, so it is irrelevant the weight of the pistons and rods..

Glad to hear that! Then that was a bad info i was given. What i was thinking is that always 2 pistons are travalling up ans 2 atravelling down so the counter balance should be automatic. But hey, you never know! Thanks for clearing that up for me and maybe others too! (lol)

i wouldn't say cheap people...maybe those that have the patience and know-how? if i had the time i'd do the same thing. the one thing i can't afford is to blow something up and pay to get it fixed. if i knew how to do it myself i'd put my sh*t together and have other people pay me to hook theirs up!

that's where you have to learn

you think i've been to school or something? NEVER, i had never been to one class.
i've always worked on cars that i'm supposed to use as daily drivers
i used to practice on cars with blown heads
READING is fundamental in this field

no school can teach you that a mazdaspeed differential is weak, or how to do 5 lug conversions, or how to install other's cars manifolds into your car. is all based on trial and error

that's true...oh well, better get another car to play with!

If you want to build it to last and run like a high performance engine you balance the crank, rods, & pistons. The cranks are not balanced perfectly from the factory. We balanced a few cranks on a Sunnen crank balancing machine and we improved the balance over the factory.

That's what I figured, thanks!

I agree totally!

But I'm gonna TRY to get everything put together right the first time...balanced, checked and re-checked. Now I just gotta get all the parts...

Yeah deffinatly dont skip out on doing things right. Forged Rods, Pistons, Gasket, Studs. Bearings Re-balance crank.

I wouldn't cheap out on a rebuild take it to a company with a good rep, even if it costs a lot more. A build is close to 1000$ install is close to that as well.

As far as safe boost levels on the MSP haha good luck raising it above stock.
My motor was 53k BONE stock not even intake, premium fuel, driving softly shifting below 4k and BOOM! MSP rods are toothpicks anything above stock is a gamble.(Belive me I know, I have held them snaped in my hands)

I know of a few good shops in Arizona..
RPM engineering (Place that used to build MAM's Motors)
Intense Motorsports
