2007 Sunlight Silver mazdaspeed 3
I just got a mazdaspeed 3 brochure in the mail.
It has the Mazdaspeed Mazdaspeed 3 upgrade rims in it. No price is listed of course but it says they are 7.7kg. That makes them lighter than the BBS RG-R.

Has anyone else seen these? Does anyone know the price?

Would there be a better performing pair for the price?

What size are the wheels, 17s? If they're 16s that isn't that light, the cast 5zigen fn01r-c are lighter.

ok for 18s that's pretty light. I haven't seen the ones in question, but I'm gonna go ahead and guess they are made by rays and are forged?

They are 18" made by Rays engineering. They look great in person but are rather pricey. We have a set here at my dealership and I want them more than ya'll know. Retail on them is around $575 per wheel.

Just doubled checked and they are $550 per wheel. Dealer cost on them is $360.

you can see the wheels on www.mazdausa.com
click mazdaspeed accessories and click on mazdaspeed6. the wheels should be at the top. i'll see if i can get a live shot from the ones here at the dealership.

This doesn't really need pictures?

The exclusive Mazdaspeed rims are very nice, but they are also on the expensive side, so no thanks.

damn I'd pay 400 a wheel but not 550 thats a little much... but they are the SEX!

How wide???

I actually think they are rather ugly...nothing special except for the weight. Rays makes much nicer wheels in my opinion.

For a factory Mazdaspeed wheel, I think there great. A nice looking, light weight forged wheel made by a reputable company like Rays Engineering.

that's a pretty good price for a brand new forged wheel by rays, no? not bad looking, either. yeah, the spokes could be thinner, but then it would just be the racing hart cp035.

7.7kg kinda light? That's silly light for a road wheel. I think they are OK looking but as mentioned previously, Rays makes better looking wheels IMO.

Rays Engineering is the company that makes Volks Racing wheels so that explains the high price. The company makes some of the best wheels in the world. If you were to travel overseas, you would see Rays Wheel line on at least 75% of the high dollar true performance cars running in the streets.

I have the Mazdaspeed Performance Accessories catalog myself, and I like how they offer it in two finishes. For those of you who don't have the catalog this is what is says:

"*Forged Aluminum Wheel
A MAZDASPEED Forged Light Weight Wheel. Reduce the unspung weight of your vehicle by utilizing the 7.7kg one piece forged aluminum wheels. Reducing unsprung weight improves handling response, braking and acceleration. 18X7.5JJ

Forged Aluminum Wheel (Hi-Light Silver) BLMS-8M-Z01

Forged Aluminum Wheel (Smokey Chrome PVD) BLMS-8M-Z06"

Now my only complaint is if the dealer's cost is in the upper $300's why are they being sold for $550 or more... I would consider them but not at $550 and knowing what the dealer pays, that's a pretty nice profit...

Lastly, 7.7kg = 16.975 lbs. Our MS3's would certainly respond differently.

You can get the Kosei K1 TS for $275 each and they are supposedly 16 lbs. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=runWheelSearch&initialPartNumber=TS180LG&wheelMake=Kosei&wheelModel=K1+TS&wheelFinish=Light+Grey+Painted&showRear=no&i1_Qty=4&autoMake=Mazda&autoModel=Mazdaspeed3&autoYear=2007&autoModClar=&filterSize=18&filterFinish=All&filterSpecial=false&filterBrand=All&sort=Brand

$190 per wheel is decent profit. If you look at anything from Rays, they are expensive and all of there wheels will carry a similar type of markup. Cheap things are'nt good, and good things are'nt cheap. If you're nice about it though, some dealers will negotiate on parts prices, especially on high dollar accessories like wheels. FYI: smokey chrome is not available yet.
