Hi everyone,

I have been on roaming around here ever since i knew i was goin to get a p5 ive been reading alot and found out alot...but i have some questions maybe stupid...so watch out now...

Can i only get the MAZDASPEED Axel-back exhaust from a mazda dealer?
It should fit on my car right?
Also what does the .5 (Mazda P5 2003.5 for example) stand for?

I love my new car we got it use clean as can be with only 8k on it... i still dont know if im dreaming someone slap me...hahahahaha (hand)

well you can find the exhasut possibly from other people on the forum. look in the for-sale section. the 2003.5 means that it came out mid-year .. like the msp 2003.5 came out mid-year of 2003 with some changes. oh im from irvine .. kinda close to ya!

welcome to the boards and hope you have a fun time with the ne P5. As said before the 2003.5 is that it came out mid year of 2003. It has a few minor interior changes but nothing special, I dont really know what cause I dont have a P5. Also, tha MSP axle-back, look around in the FS section, but make sure it is the axle back for the P5 as they are shorter in the rear than the sedan.

U might want to find out more about different exhausts before jumping in. Some of them has that drone than can be annoying when you drive on the highway (around 3K RPMS).

Which the MazdaSpeed Axle-back has... at least mine did. Eventually went with the RB Cat-back. Much better (but also more expensive).

well i was just thinking of getting all mazdaspeed products since it is a mazda...and my car still has a remainder of Mazda Factory warrenty...after the warrenty is up i think imma start doing some modifications 2 it but since it is an automatic/sportronic im not sure how far i can go...b/c i was reading somewhere not sure if it was here but they said forced induction is not very good for this type of transmission...(yea i was hoping to go turbo/supercharged) depending on what imma feel like doing after 2 1/2 years ill probably get the basics (intake, header, exhaust) im also not a big racer but after sitting in my friend's new VW gulf 1.8T Man i want that power LoL.

Most of us have p5's and mazdaspeeds, so you can get a good idea of what you want and what is out there.

On the transmission question you can generally run low boost, perhaps no more than 6psi decently well on a auto. The fact that is a sportmatic doesn't change anything since it is still a auto tranmission. The 3.5 pretty much included the rear sub, roof rack was a option and other minor changes though nothing really different.

I like the MSP axle back sound and as seen above some don't. So 100% go to a meet before hand and there should be someone there with a MSP axle back that can give you a ride. If not ride in some other P5s to see how the exhaust sounds and go from there. We have different taste in sounds so you may actually like the MSP axle sound.

I would like to see a pic of your car without the roof rack! Because like you said in my thread, you have everything I have except 10,000 less miles and a roof rack! I know I read somewhere that there is something that when you take off the roof rack it replaces it with something but I need to see what they are talking about...

I would also like to know how to figure out about the 2003.5's but this is his thread so I will just do a little searching and a lot of reading!!!

your car should have come with roof rack strips which, basically are strips of plastic that fill in the space that is left when you remove the roof rack. check in your trunk in the spare tire well or in the little compartment where your jack is.

i havent heard the sound for the MSP axel exhaust i want something loud but not 2 loud (not to the point where im setting off ppls car alarms)...thanks for the info for a low boost setup

Ill put some pics up hopefully by the end of 2day i got a family gathering 2maro so ill be pretty busy 2day...

ill look for the roof strips 2day...to see if its there...

Also this is basicly my first car...(although i have a 95 civic DX [soon to be sold btw]) but i didnt really bother modding it cuz it has 2 many miles on it with the it being a DX and figured it was pointless...and im still kinda clueless to the whole car modding scene...i guess i somewhat know what i can add i juss never did any installs on cars before mainly due to the fact that im scared i might break something but ive wanted to learn so....

I'm talking to someone right now about buying it, but if he doesn't pull through I'll come back and talk to you again.

the biggest differences i think in the 0 and .5 would be from 02 to 02.5 cuz there were quite a few luckily o2.5 for me others were minor

Sweet car hope that you dig the new ride. I've been thinkin' about the mazdaspeed axel back too.. (149.99 last time I checked at mazdastuff.com, dealer out of austin, tx) but if you have the opportunity to hear what else is out there, i'd take everyone up on it to see what appeals to your taste as they are quite different tones out there..
