WTB Brake pad guide plate

So it looks like I found out how mazda is trying to screw us. I need what is called a guide plate for the front brake pads. This part is actually part of the pad set which mazda wants 109 dollars for and I want them to go **** themselves. What it is is the little stamped metal piece going between the guide channel of the caliper and the brake pad. For clarification I am not talking about the shims that sit on the outside of the pad. A part of my guide plate is worn away and causing wear on the rotor and squeeling. The problem is that these are not offered with aftermarket pads which I have. I'm willing to buy 2 or three of these. PM me if you have extra calipers laying around and can

I totally agree with you. I would try www.car-part.com. Also, FWIW, I have been running without these clips for about 6 months now without any problems or increased wear that I can tell. I tried this after learning that racers remove these clips--saying that the wear is actually better without these. Supposedly, these clips are just there to quiet down some of the rattling and squeal, which racers don't care about. The increased noise hasn't bothered me but is noticeable.

I have run with and without these on the race car. I'm not sure if there was additional noise/rattling without them since the sound of the motor/turbo overwhelms most everything (confused) . The big difference I found with them was more even wear on the pads. Without them the pad rotates and angles slightly with caliper piston pressure causing the pads to wear at an angle. For longer races I make sure I have them in now....

That's interesting. I think I'll check the wear, put the clips back in next time I change pads (or maybe now if the wear isn't too uneven) and monitor the wear going forward. I certainly don't need the extra noise and who can argue with more even pad wear? Thanks.
