Looking for a headunit with 3 sets of RCA preouts, my Kenwood x917's ribbon is messed up and I would have to send unit in to fix. I am going to list it on e-bay and let someone else deal with it (i dont like refurbished stuff IMO). I really dont want to spend over 150shipped. I just need somethin basic with the three preouts on it. Just as I get all my s*** for my new system this happen (go figure) its always somethin. Any help please. I all ready searched the forums and set out a couple of PM's. Thanks

Russ.

Alpine CDA 9855. I have one, tons of control and 3 sets of rca's. Are you looking for a second hand HU, or suggestions for a new one?

Kenwood head units need their ribbon cables replaced occasionally, it sucks that you have to send it in to get fixed, but it's a common problem that is easily rectified. I have had mine for four years (a different model, i love it) and had it sent in once for that problem after 2 years, it looks like I will have to send it in again for it soon. It happens with wear, the cable is only exposed when my head unit face tries to flip around, and cold/warm conditions and continuous flipping of the head unit has caused that wear. I consider it an inconvenience, but it happens so infrequently, i keep it around anyway. is your head unit still under warranty? it is a warranty-replaceable issue.

if not, i would shop around for something else. i have a few extra head units around that work, one of them i posted a pic up for possible sale a few weeks ago. http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2179909&postcount=501

Thats what hear. The other Kenwood you have it only has 2 set of RCA right. Dont need that one. I have had many HU in the past, Kenwood, Sony, Eclipse, and Pioneer. And I have to say that the Eclipse is by far the best one I have ever had. No the HU is not under war. still, I had 3yr on it, its been 4andhalf yrs. I seen someone sell my unit for around 250 on e-bay with the same prob.

one of the best out but also $$$

IMO, eclipse is the best out there. so the $$$ is worth it. I'm just strapped for cash right now cause I bought the rest of my system.

Never mind fellas. Just bought me an eclipse 5303 tuner with a six disc changer for 150. Thanks for your help though. time to (cheers)
