Picked up my winter rims for the Mz5... 16" Elbrus I02's... Elbrus are Tire Rack's in house made-in-china line. Have to see how they hold up to the abuses of a Canadian winter (I did put two coats of Wheel Wax on... small defense, but some defense). Also got TPMS sensors from these guys: http://oewheelsllc.com/ Installed the TPMS sensors myself, and had the snowies (Michelin X-Ice 2) mounted & Road Force balanced, an then put them on the car last week. Was a bit worried about the TPMS sensors, but I followed the reset procedure, and had no sign of trouble - dash light went out promptly on the first start-up, before having to even turn a wheel. I suppose I should go and let some air out of one of them and see that it registers properly...
One note... grrrrr - stupid tuner lugs!!! Now each car I own requires that I switch nuts/bolts with each summer/winter wheel swap - PITA! The OEM winters vs OZ and BBS summers on the Jetta and Passat switch between ball and cone seat, and the OEM Mazda summers vs Elbrus winters which require the thin-wall socket with smaller nuts. (Also requires that I carry an OE set of nuts/bolts in the winter for the spare wheel.)
I got a pic of the car in the garage... rims look... small! The 16's balloon a bit, and with the ~10mm difference in offset, I do find the stance a bit ungainly. I'll post a pic when I get a chance.
Also got a few Barone goodies... Rear sway bar (went for the red, just for fun), wheel spacers (actually didn't mean to order those... had them in the cart, thought I'd decided against & removed them, but they were in my shipment, so I guess I'll use 'em!), and a short shift adapter. At this point (snow on the ground and a cold garage!)... I'll probably wait and install the RSB in the spring.
