Will 03 Mazda 6 Rims Fit my new 09 Mazda 6?

Whats up everyone,

I am new to the forum and had a question for you all. I had 2003 mazda untill some kids wrecked into us and totaled our car. It came with some factory 18" Mazda wheels 215/45R18. The dealership said the person who owned it bought some wheels from a 06 Mazda and put them on my 03 mazda. I really liked the rims and figured i would end up getting another 6 so I took them off my totaled car.

I have now purchased a 2009 Mazda 6 GT. It comes with the stock P235/45WR18 wheels. My question is will my old 215/45R18 wheels fit on my new 09" Mazda 6? If so what are the dissadvantages from going to a P235 to 215? Also how can I get the tire pressure system working on my old wheels?

Here is a link with pics of my Mazda's and Rims. http://www.box.net/03mazda

As you can see I personally feel I downgraded as far as looks are concerned. I really like the body of 03 Mazda. I hope my old rims will fit. Maybe after the rims, tinted windows and a rear spoiler my new Mazda will look a little more sportier

They'll fit, but overall tire diameter and width will be a little on the small side. Your speedo will read a little high and you'll have a little less rim protection.

Considering you'll have to have the tires dismounted to install the TPMS (can be done at the dealership or any tire shop) you may just want to swap your stock 235 tires onto the 06 MS6 wheels now and sell off the 215s. Maybe someone with an older model Mazda would like to buy your 09 wheels with the 215 tires?

Good Advices Thanks! I didn't know it was possible to swap just the tires. I though because the tire was wider so was the wheel.

So if can swap out the tires it will not effect my speed sensor or tire sensors correct?

I will probably just use my other set of tires and wheels for the winter.

The Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors install inside the tire where the valve stem is. You'll need to buy a second set of TPMS if you want to run (2) separate seasonal packages.

You are right though, the 2009 wheels are 8" wide (or 7.5"?), and the MS6 wheels are 7" wide so the 235s will be a bit wide for the MS6 wheels. I thought it would be an acceptable fit though it is marginal.

215/50-18 would be an ideal diameter for the car and width for the wheel.
