Who has done a turbo?

If you can turbo a mazda 3 I don't see why you can't do a 5 with the same motor...and tune with the ss-afc.

just get the tripoint kit. you'll just have to figure out the electronics to work with an automatic. they might even sell you a kit with no electronics.

Where is that thread about the school / university auto shop guys and kids that did an Mazda 5 Turbo upgrade with intercooler and EVC and everything ... ??

Any search on the forum of Mazdaspeed 5 will find the thread, Sarge.(stfu)

Wow all you would need is fuel injectors, fuel pump and something to control the ECU. Oh and a manifold to bolt the turbo to. And enough money to replace all the junk parts the kit comes with lol. You would seriously be asking for trouble with this one I think. Who knows where that turbo came from and half the piping may be useless in the end. You get what you pay for folks.

What's 400 bucks compared to starting a project that could likely keep you busy every evening for the rest of your life, not to mention keeping your 5 safe inside the garage shop for ever?

There is a reason a quality brand name turbo by itself costs at least 2x what that kit sells for and when the seals burn up and the compressor wheel hits the housing and shatters and is sucked into your motor grenading the block. That $400 is now going to cost several thousand to rebuild your motor!

If you can turbo a car reliably for $400 why isn't everyone doing it. Maybe a project for a 17yo kid with a $500 civic not a $20k family hauler.
