When You Didn't Think Mazda Could Get Any Dumber!

:
2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
Ok so the story goes somehow the line that runs from the wastegate on the turbo to the T fitting to the left of the intake came lose and was cut. I tried to replace the line myself to save the trouble of going to mazda but couldn't reach it. So I called Mazda and the car was taken in. They called me today and there telling me that there are mutiple Vaccume lines missing in my car, and that my boost gauge and FPR kit are the reasons that my car is having drivability issues and why the turbo won't spool. I mean how desperate can you be to blame the reason for a turbo to not spool and drivability on boost gauges. So now the service people need me to come down and explain my own damn engine to them cause they can't figure it out. God where did they find these people???

Probably the McDonalds' Drive Through Manager application reject pile!

And that is a scientific fact:D

It would only make sense because when a so called licensed tech and the service manager need me to come down and explain an engine to them then I should have both there jobs!

And keep in mind that these are certified MazdaSpeed Techs. I've been told multiple times that there is only one mechanic in the entire shop qualified to look at my car. Of course every time I came in with a complaint of hesitation I'd get some s*** line like, "you probably aren't using good gas."

It is possible that your techs aren't MazdaSpeed certified...now that would be scary.

Fed up with broken ass new cars,
Joe

That's pretty ballsy of you to take your car to the dealer for service with all that stuff installed. Can't they now blame any number of drivetrain problems on your boost gauge and fpr?

Hey - I had an alarm problem (lights stayed on after alarm armed) so they ordered a new alarm brain and told me I could pick up the car and drive it until the brain came in. Great, but when I went to pick up the car, the brain was unplugged - so the car wouldn't start! This after riding my race bike there all hot 'n sweaty... then I had to tell the service manager where the alarm box was and plug it in myself, then cycle the alarm!

Best to find a mod-friendly dealer, or talk to the MSP tech yourself - in the long run it actually SAVES time since multiple visits to the dealer are a WASTE.

Careful with the mods though, they try to blame EVERYTHING on them - you have to really know what you're dealing with before they'll listen, and be willing and able to call in MazdaUSA (or your attorney if things get really nasty). Remember, the dealers are VERY familiar with how to disarm arrogant customers and sometimes have NO idea how to handle kindness - kill 'em with kindness and usually things work out. Good luck!

Well I went and looked at the car tonight, and bascially this is all over $2.00 worth of vaccume hose. The two techs looked at it and knew exactly what they were talking about it and knew what had to be done, but I guess with any warrenty work it has to be called into Mazda before they can do it, so says the service manager. He also said because of the mods (FPR kit, and boost gauge) that the Mazda Rep may void my entire engine warrenty 3500-5000 dollars worth of parts bascially. So I am going to meet the mazda rep out there tomorrow and have a nice long chat about getting this fixed and if they want to void it then they need to prove that those parts caused the problem. I also will at that point be contacting an attorney. Hopefully it won't come to this but Mazda may leave me no choice, **** MAZDA!!!

Anyone have the SEMA policy/rule somwhere handy so I can bring it with?

Rock on my friend. Good luck and that is so freaking stupid of them. Not only do they need to be Mazdaspeed certified but they need to be Corky Bell certified or something. They need to be more knowledgeable of stock turbosystems and some aftermarket systems. I mean come on, what is a Mazdaspeed built for?? TO BE MODDED MORE OF COURSE!:D This is not a stock LX where slapping an aftermarket turbo will void a warranty of course. BUT PLEASE Mazda techs, cut us Mazdaspeed owners some slack. Its already turbocharged.... so what do they expect

Plus theyre always saying how the MSP is for the ultimate car enthusiast soooo :wtf:

They bitched about my weatherstriping being removed when I went in for a CEL....all I can say is wow..

****** mazda...dude i wish u the best of luck and if it comes to it get the attorny and ****** shove it up their ass...no way a ****** gauge causes this much problem in the engine

Bigger's Mazda, I mean I think there trying there best, ahh who am I kidding, delaerships SUCK MONKEY!

We'll see what happens tomorrow, if there gonna risk a law suit and all this crap over $2.00 of vaccume hose then Mazda is really ****** stupid!

thats ok i have had my car for less then 3 weeks and the dealer has had it for 2 of them it wont stop stalling they are going to get a tech from nj or cal to come work on it i have a 2003 and they have been ripping parts off a 03.5 and still cant fig it out mazda sucks

u have been talking to john the service manager right. he seems like a decent guy i was just in there and he was cool. but i say sue em anyways casue thats s***

Yeah this whole ordeal is s***. Man this thing is making me consider just waiting the damn 4 years b4 my warranty is up b4 doing anything to the car cause the techs at mazda don't know what they're doing as yet. It's tempting though man. This car has potential.
I wish you all the best though.

Jon, try a different dealership. Ken (The Pikachu Captain....) has his P5 turboed and his dealer...er, deals with him cool...try it!

If the tech from NJ comes out (probably him, since your in MD), he know's his s*** and will be straight with you. His name is Chris (came up to Newport, RI to look at my '03), and says he was directly involved with the development of the MSP. You may feel like your being brushed to the side, but it's not that way with him. But good luck, and let us know what happens.
Peace

My cousins MSP, blew the subwoofer, (I know since I have been doing car audio for over 12 years). So he takes it to the service department and tells the advisor, she (or he-I dont know) says how can I tell since I'am not Mazda certified!
