Wheel Clearence

Hi,

New to 5 forum, I might be purchasing a 5 within a couple months. Looking at putting on aftermarket wheels on the car, i know the 5 is based on the 3 chassis, is the exterior dimension about the same? Is it safe to say wheels that fit on the 3 can fit on the 5? I will lower it also with 3 coilovers as well and i will slam it.

I like wide aggressive wheels, what's the widest wheels any of you fit on your 5? I know some 3 has fitted 9" wide wheels.

Thankyou

Well I have 19 x 8.5...you are just going to have to make sure you have a high offsett if you plan on doing 9" wheels...at least a 50mm I would think if not 52mm...but good luck finding a wheel in that offset that wide. Cant wait to see it though...Welcome to the forum

Thankyou for your reply.

Do you have pics of your ride?
What's the offset and tire size you're using?
Also do you know how much clearence between your rims and the strut?

Thanks

That's my car domain page. Lots of pics.
I'm running 19 x 8.5 wheels with a 48mm offset on 215/35 tires and that size tire is only so I dont rub on the fenders...wanted to go a little wider but didnt for fear of having to bang the fender lips in.

I think I have a 1/2 inch maybe of clearance from rim to strut . The higher the offset the closer you are to the strut. I have no problems going from lock to lock with the steering either. Hope this helps

Your 5 is sweet!!

Hmmm i guess my 17x9.5 +30 from my previous car isn't going to fit. (sad1)

Thanks for your help.
