I just got my Fujita CAI last week. Today I got my windows tinted 20%. Now I am looking for my next mod.... What do you recommend? I wanna go with the down pipe but is that the best thing to add next.... Thanks for any help you guys can give!!

if your gonna get a DP you might as well just get a full exhaust system

IMO just getting a DP would be like if you were having trouble breathing in air, and you only unclog your nose. get what im saying? your opening up the exhaust to get better flow, but then its constricted still by the stock exhaust.
if im wrong someone please correct me.

I understand what your saying but a buddy of mine has the wrx and he saw a big improvement with just the downpipe. Anyone else have input??

No, I'm not paying over $400 for a DP. That's ass **** w/no lube.

TWM is who you get the shifter from
I thought you were down with that?

But if it gives you as much power as they say they do then why not?

I wouldn't spend $400-$500 on a downpipe just yet, I would throw that money at the CP-E EMS. That would probably give you your best bang for your buck. Then, after that, get your downpipe in the turbo back exhaust. Or, instead of spending the $1100-1200 for the turbo back exhaust, drop another $1000 on top of that and get the bigger turbo kit :)

Thats what I would do if i had money burning a hole in my pocket

Please tell me where you can find a downpipe for less than $400 for any car with a production run as small as ours'. Were not driving srt-4's or one of the 10 million turbo mitsubishis or subarus....

If your looking for cheap improvements, the rear mount and the short shifter are great..

If you want a noticable change in power delivery replace the downpipe or the TMIC. They're the most restrictive stock parts on the car...

Any of the downpipes on the market will work. I love my CPE DP, it was the most noticable increase of all my mods.

Don't hold your breath waiting for cheaper a downpipe to be made--It's probably not going to happen...

A DP is still a DP, pal.

A geo metro is a car just like a Koenigsegg CCX, by your logic there is no difference between the two and we should all be happy with the geo.(unless Koenigsegg stops price gouging us and sells the CCX for the same price as a Metro)

You got me, that's a really cheap DP, but It's hardly anywhere near as complex to build and manufacture as the DP for our car--It's also is only a shorty pipe(you stiil need a midpipe/highflowcat). I'd be willing to be it takes about the same work to make as a RP for our car.

I'm not going to argue over this. If your not happy with current DP prices-make your own, and then sell it to the community for less than $400.

A little science to go with the pointless bickering...a downpipe will yeild results regardless of the catback section for two reasons. PV=NRT is the ideal gas law...essentially it says that as a gas cools its presure and volume drop...so as the exhaust gasses leave the turbo and begin to cool they require less volume to flow the same molar amount of gas. The second reason is more simple...any time you remove bends, kinks, and restrictions from a line whatever is flowing through said line will flow more efficiently...just like a garden hose with no kinks.

I don't think it has to do with the fact that the DP costs $400....... it has to more with the fact that people still have to make car payments.......car insurance as well as whatever other bills they have (rent, ultility, phone).

and the $400 isn't exactly something someone has to just fart out there butt and drop on a DP.

I want a DP, but I'll have to save up for it..... along with the other mods I would like to put on my car..... My friend once went 2 months eating nothing but cup o noodles every day just to save money to buy a turbo he wanted for his RSX..... what does that tell you? LOL yeah that might be a little extreme, but not spending money on groceries enabled him to save up what he needed for the car....
