so, i blew the tranny on my MP3, i'm replacing it with a Mazda 626 transmission.

I will do the following:
replace output shaft seals
replace clutch
replace flywheel
replace throwout bearing
replace clutch line for stainless braided
replace clutch fluid
will put some valvoline transmission fluid.
drop in a LSD differential

anything else i could do?

how could i do a flush of the transmission? can i use break cleaner to clena the gunk out?
how hard, if doable, is it to replace synchros?

Don't forget to replace the pilot bearing too. Changing synchros is a big job that requires total disassembly of the tranny and a good press! All clearances need to be checked and shimmed properly. If you aren't grinding any gears there's no need and if you are...well it could and most likely will eventually lead to something worse.

Why not do a rear seal also while its open. But seeing how the prior owner went through multiple transaxles and you are now on your 5th, maybe it's only a matter of time before you open it up again in the future. Hope not for you though.

Rather than putting solvents into the case, I would simply put in some non-expensive gear oil, run the car for a few hundred miles and then change it again once more and then put in the good stuff. Unless their was some sort of comtamination be introducing a fluid other than gear oil into the case, what could be so wrong in there?

yea, pilot bearing...i forgot that one.
thanks

in regards to "if you aren;t grinding" well that's the thing.
this tranny is a junkyard baby....so, who knows!

when i take it apart i'll see if it is worth it on not, i guess.
