2004 Mazda6 Sport GS
Just test drove a 2012 Mazda5 GT Auto in Metro Grey and wow...impressive. Going to talk to the dealership tomorrow (bought my 04 Mazda6 GS Sport (manual trans) from there. I dealt with the Owner of the Dealership last time and will again tomorrow. Any advice out there on how I should handle the talks. He was good to me last time. What price should I be looking for? I also will ask for tinting, winter set of tires and rims, Cargo Mat and rear bumper protective film (or should I do this somewhere else). I am in British Columbia Canada and the promotion right now in BC is 0% for 84 months OR $3000 of Cash price - should I ask for both?? Any advice, tips would be greatly appreciated. Is this a good time to buy? We want to get rid of our 2004 Jeep Liberty Columbia edition (will sell privately). We would like the Mazda5 b/c now we have 2 little kids and will make life a lot easier, etc.

Thanks again for your advice.

0% for 84 months is unbelievable! i would take that deal, as the financing would save you more in the long run. i would only ask if there is any penalty for prepayment on the loan. 7 years is a long time for a car loan. however, if you can stack payments while you are financially able to do so will shorten the loan. plus, when you have a tight month, you can just make the minimum payment.

make sure you negotiate total price for the car before you head into the finance office. don't let them talk only payments. they could offer you a lower monthly payment for a longer term, and jack the price of the car to make up for it.

i would buy snow tires separate. you can usually get a better deal outside a dealer. same with any "dealer" accessories, unless they will add them for no cost to sweeten any deals. if they won't add them for free, just leave them off until later.

for pricing, search online and you can get all invoicing and incentives costs. make sure you know the exact price of the vehicle before you start negotiating. be fair with your requests, and the dealer should be responsive. also, be prepared to walk away if you don't like the way things are going.

Thanks, where is a good place to buy accessories (would they be able to ship to Canada), a good place to buy tires and rims (I know it's cheaper in the US) and to find out the invoicing price....the only incentive right now is 0% for 84 ($30500ish before taxes) or $3000 off ($27500ish).

We recently purchased two Mazda5's in Toronto (a GS automatic, and a GS manual with convenience pkg). We were able to get around $4500 off on cash purchase, with a few small extras thrown in. Good luck with your purchase.
