What is up with this stinky MPG??

I'm not going to say what my RX-7 gets. ;) Hehee... Naw, it gets about 12mpg, on average. But hasn't been driven in a looong time, now. =/

what's the matter with your 7?

I sent the turbo off to be rebuilt, and just got it back a while ago, after it started snowing. D'oh! So, once summer rolls around, I'll have it all done. The reason it guzzles gas, though, is the Racing Beat exhaust, and boost controller set up for a tad more boost (9psi). =) Nothing more than I expected, though.

my intake hasnt helped my mpgs at all...

but i do drive kinda psycho...but getting between 17 and 21...i think thats just low

could something be wrong? or is it all my driving?

FC turboII's always run rich I have found that using the S-AFC and leaning it out a little you get more power and better mpg.

I was thinking about getting the S-AFC II for it at some point soon, so that'll be on the to-do list. I'll probably lean it out a little, but not a whole lot, as I don't want to blow a seal or anything due to running too lean, or anything. =) Thanks for the tip!

dreeza, stop going 100+ on the freeway and your mpg will improve.

FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER..

I have had my car up to 200 KM/H, and there was more to go, but can't, damn snow, and snow tires..

I am begining to forget wheat my car looks like with the stock wheels on..

Gas is really only an issue when the price goes up, but have fun, enjoy the ride, this car is FUN!!

Man... I get 34mpg on Sunoco 89 octane, with my header, exhaust, intake and all... And I drive like a nut. =)
Yup, flat-black do you drive by shifting 1-3-5 to save gas? hehe. j/k.

I get about 30~32 mpg but I avoid stop and go traffic, heck I avoid traffic altogether which helps my fuel economy.

Hehee... Yeah, that may be it... I only drive on the highway, basically, and when I'm not driving in the highway, I drive where no one else is, so I can enjoy the twisties at my leisure. =)

I'm driving a Beetle for a couple of days until my car gets fixed. It has the base 2.0l.

It doesn't get any better mpg than our cars. So i guess any 2.0l will consume more gas than a 1.6 vtec.

damn you all! i've just got 19.8 on my last fill up!!!!

my numbers always drop in the winter, but this is a pretty new low. I've recently been using Speedway gas (due to the fact christmas brought more than one gas card my way) and since I've had my car it always performs worse on Speedway, than my preffered Fastlane....I guess I'll have to try the Shell nearby because even Fastlane only gets me a max of 25 mpg

I get crappy mileage because I am always driving around town. Not to mention the fact that I have to warm up my car for 5+ minutes because of this HORRIBLE weather!

How can you guys complain about 20+mpg when you only need 87 octane gas? My old car got 15mpg at BEST on 91...The mileage on this car is fantastic (2thumbs)

the fact you have an automatic transmission doesnt help you when comparing to peoole with manuals that can actually control what gear their car is in.

like others have said i can go 1-3-5 in traffic and pretty much go into my overdrive gears at 30mph ie: in 5th gear if i wanted to.

its really all about driving and the driver. sure i would redline in first gear sometimes when trying to merge into fast traffic and whatnot but i wouldnt be racing from every stoplight i go to or go 100mph on the freeway, though i have been getting close to it on some occasions.

i almost never redline it...only when i am trying to pass people, and thats where my lil O/D button comes in handy too

i do go between 90 - 115 on highways consistently - but i usually am only on the highway on sundays, the rest is all city driving....coming from a stoplike i try and keep my RPMs below 3500...

ugh, whatev, as of right now i dont pay for my gas, but i feel bad filling up so often

the redline in these cars are just for show...they don't rev very well outside of the mp3 with more aggresive cams and timing...the stock fs-de in the pr5 just hates to go to redline...the powerband is from 3-5.5k and that's about it...it's got decent low end torque but very quickly runs out of breath

A friend of mine drives an automatic P5, and he gets 17MPG in the city, and 25MPG on the highway. That's pretty damn low. He drives like a grandma too. The car has 4000 miles. Any ideas on what I could tell him to inspect or to change to get decent gas mileage?
