Niiiiiice. Glad we harrassed you enough and changed your mind. I'd just go 215/45. You're not going to auto-x and won't have to worry about rubbing issues. And you live in Texas, you don't need to worry about snow, right?
No, it's not too big at all. a Very good size for a 8". But, with the 225/45 in the rear, you may need to roll fenders and/or adjust your camber a little to avoid rubs. 225/45 should be fine in the front, aside from rubbing a little when you make sharp turns. Spacers will take care of that, tho. Do you run spacers now? 5mm Spacers + camber + roll the rear quarter panels & you will be golden.

The FD wheels are 8". And like I said, I can only find 215/45 in ultra high performance tires that are $100+ a piece and I can't afford that and don't want a tire with low treadwear.
I've got 5mm spacers coming to go all around and I'll be rolling my rear fenders and maybe my front if it's necessary.

I got Max Perf. summers @ $92 ea. Where you getting your tires? And how cheap are you trying to go? Going for 600 UTQW treadwear??? Mine are 280 UTQW, on the low side but they're my summer tires... Supposed to be Stickkyyyy. Hell my old Kumho All-Seasons were under 400 UTQW... 360, IIRC.
My car is a daily driver, I need something that lasts a few years. And you won't find all-seasons or entry summer level in 215/45/16. Look here:

Fair enough, 225/45/17 there's a very good selection of tires... Try looking in 225/50/16. Much better selection, and closer to your stock wheel/tire size.
If you're looking for a good all-season, good treadwear tire that doesn't break the bank, get these:

They are the best you can buy, IMO. Great in all weather, probly the only all-season tire worth a s*** in the snow. And only $96 ea. in 225/50/16... 540 UTQW, should give you some damn good treadlife. They come off backorder on 5/5/2010 supposedly.
These are going to be my rear tires for all-season possibly, or maybe my winter setup too, I haven't decided yet.

I know, I was saying 225/45/17 has a much better selection, and you should look at 225/50/16 because it's closer to stock setup, and has a much better selection of tires.

I wanted 205/50 but it'll be too stretched. It's too bad more people don't have FD wheels so I can compare setups. I'm just trying to visualize what these tire sizes will look like on the car. I want a good size tire but nothing "beefy".
215/40 is out of the question because it's too small and 215/50 is too big IMO. Looks like I'll just stick with 225/45/16.

I wouldn't cheap out on good tires, especially since it's your DD and you plan on running them for a few years. I personally would pay the extra $30 a tire for some nice tires that I would be happy with for a few years. I'd hate to see you buy cheap tires, mount them up and be unhappy for 3 years until you buy new tires again. I understand the urge to put on your new wheels ASAP, don't get me wrong. But if you're going to do something, do it right the first time so you don't have to do it right the second time. I'm done ranting. =)
True story. Like I said you should have a tire place locally that's got some deals going on right? lol you could eve go the next state over. ( I don't have that choice) I have to pay high cost and or high shipping lol) I paid $50 a tire for shipping.... Now that sucks
Selection for 225/50/16 is plentiful... Speedo will have a more accurate reading, also. Closer to stock size than 225/45.
O, and Matt, 225/45 are kinda beefy, lol. Granted they will be on 17's but when I mount up 225/45/17 tmrw, I'll post pics. I'm going for meattyyy.
I'll have: front - 225/45/17 w/ 17x7 +40 w/ 15mm spacer & rear - 215/45/17 w/ 17x7 +40 w/ 15mm spacer.
I'm going to adjust camber on front & rear when I get it aligned. Will probly be around -2.0 at all 4 corners. A little less up front most likely... Maybe more in the rear, we'll see.
