the blown engines are people that are heavily modded and push too much boost...
other cases are the rare case of 3k rpm cruising and busting a rod... not sure why this happens... but it is very rare.
other issues to watch for are smoking turbo from factory (warranty covered/replaced) and weak rear diff bolts. The turbo issue is easy to detect... let the car idle for 5-10 minutes... if you dont see any smoke, you're golden.
Most all these issues are rare, most common was the smoking turbo back when they first were released... but in all fairness this car has no more wear n tear issues than any other car. All cars have common problems & quirks... have had mine, bought used since aug 2009, not a single issue so far, and i do canyons fairly often.
