Hi guys, I bought one of those defrost ventpod's from Ben for my prosport boost gauge and was just after some info on where you route the tubing through the firewall to the engine bay and the best place to tap in for power?

Im only asking as the wires and tubing will be inside the plastic air duct so just wanted to confirm if I have to drill a hole in the ducting or not?

Thanks.

i have one as well that i've yet to install. i would suppose a hole in the vent piping is neccesary. drill a hole (from underneath) then just put some tape over it once your wires are threw to keep it sealed up.

as far as power goes. theres plenty of threads on here that lay it out. just search a lil. i used the fuse box thats right next to the dead pedal. and found a bolt nearby to ground too.

For power you could buy one of those cheap "make a fuse" things at any autozone. Plugs right into your fusebox. Or you can use the cig lighter which is what I used if I remember correctly.

As for going to the engine bay. Most people go through following the hoold release cable. Just stick ur head under there with a flashlight and follow the cable. You will see a rubber gromet on the back left. Use something to pry it off and use that opening. The cables thread over the splash guard in the wheel well into the engine bay.

hmmm! never used that one before. i ran all my wires threw the big grommet with the huge bundle of wires goin threw it. plenty of space there as well.

I put my wires through the large grommet as well. I used my Leatherman to make a small slit and then a large flat-head screwdriver to make it a bit bigger.

As for the hole in the vent piping, I drilled it from the top down, not from underneath. Either way, there's fortunately plenty of room down there; you don't have to worry about drilling into anything else.

Did you get the electrical boost gauge? If you did, I recommend running the tubing through the firewall and placing the sender inside the passenger compartment. My sensor got wet underneath the hood and totally fried. I still need to order a replacement.
