Upgrading 2014 CX5 auto shifter to 2014.5 CX5 auto shifter

My dad recently purchased a 2014 cx5 and when he saw the 2014.5 he told me he liked the shifter a lot more on the 2014.5.

Basically the 2014 has a step ladder shifter while the 2014.5 is a straight ladder. Mechanically I doubt the transmission would require a step ladder movement so although I haven't disassembled it yet I'm guessing the lateral movement is just cosmetic.

Im looking for a parts supplier or link to somewhere I can purchase the 2014.5 cx5 shifter.

Thanks in advance!

Please tell me there is better parts supply sites than this mazmart for Mazda. Their slogan of "We are the largest used parts for the United States" makes me think this site is a joke as all I see is under 100 random parts. With an amazing grand total of 0 parts available for any CX5!

The OEM BMW parts stores online that I use have inventories and parts catalogs almost as in-depth as the dealership. Mazmart look like its made by a child in comparison.

I much prefer the gated shifter on the 2014 because I can make the shifts without looking at the shifter. However: I could probably get used to the 2014.5.

When you slip into manu-matic mode on the new shifter it works the same way. No need to look.

Guess I have to keep you and dad away from my 2014.5 LOL

With that being said, I have to say its very easy to knock the shifter into manual mode on the 2014.5 model.... no resistance whats so ever, so not sure he will like that aspect (haven't tried dad's gated shifter though, so cant compare).

That is why you have to contact them for specific items. If there is one Mazda parts retailer you should trust, it's MazMart... Their website is not the best, but that is not their core structure for what they are. They've been around longer and have better ties with corporate Mazda than any online parts website and vendor. The only company with similar credibility is Racing Beat.

There are no "OEM Mazda parts stores" unless you order from a vendor run by a dealership. Which usually equates to a seller with less credibility and higher prices.

I have no ties with MazMart and have only had two buying experiences with them. But they have been around the Mazda community long enough for any enthusiast to know.

I'm giving up on the idea. I expected this upgrade/downgrade to be much simpler and cheaper.

It appears the shifter assembly (below the cosmetic pieces) is gated making the change difficult and expensive as you'd have to change out the entire shifter assembly (a ~5kg part) as well as all the cosmetic pieces.

Heres a schematic of the gated shifter parts for anyone who comes across this thread searching for an answer:
