Update on my MPI Tuner!

Will have new maps up soon. I am going in a little different direction. I am trying to get the car runnin 0's in all boxes in 8x16 map. Except for boost areas. This way car will drive just like stock until I hit boost!

hmm good plan... It apears i'm hitting boost around .67 or so...

Are you running the MP3 ECU or the P5??? I have a P5 ECU so my timing is already lower than he MP3's.. I like the feel of the advanced timing under 3K (1's and 2's) so far. I can definately feel it cause me to spool faster and not be as jerky.. Plus my car was falling lfat onit's face under 2.5K- now it is not. Could be the timing advance, might not be... (shrug)

Im still having my issues with my MPI tunner and cant get a hold from Nick.

Nick or any that can help me:

My issue right now is that my car is doing some kind of fuel or ignition cut when buillding boost. Its not always, but it happens every now and then while driving (like 5-7 times in a hour of driving).

While I was trying to recreate the problem, I had to record a log, and noticed a BIG ASS DROP on the Anaglo Out, something like from 4.19v to .89v.

Sometimes I have to stop the car, shut off the engine and the start it back onbecause as soon as it starts to buils the 1st psi of boost, It will PULL ALL THE FUEL OUT, just like hitting a wall. If I keep it under vacuum it just work fine, until it hits 0vac then its like smashing the breaks.

Jeremy was with me and saw the weird things happening evenwith his laptop, software and map, along with that issue:

1. Online changes are not occuring. I have to continuously save the map, then exit, go online and upload to the tunner twice. So basically, tunning is not possible. We have to make changes offline and then upload and test.
2. Saving log files freezzes the program 75% of the time I try.

Can somebody give me a hand?

Why could you not get a hold of me? I did not get any e-mails for you in the last 3-4 weeks and no phone calls. If the software locks up you have to remove the program and clean out your computer. Scandisc and defrag. Remove programs that you are not using. Then check you wiring. You may have a less then great conection.

Yes remove the program and reload that will solve the saving issue. And yes I saw the problem Igdrasil stated, but I asked as well if the wiring was good. . .because it didn't make much sense and I had not seen it. . .even with my program / setup on his car, we still experienced it. Something isn't right (just don't know what that something is right now).

Done that a lot of times...Im even using a profile for the tunner only, and the only programs I use in my laptop is the tunner, office and internet explorer.

The laptop was recently formatted. Reinstalled the software and still the same. It takes changes for a few minutes...then it stops saving changes online...
I sent the email again, now with a log file, if any of you wants to check my log file let me know. More heads think better than just 1.

Hmm..what are you using a usb port?

Chas
nope

whats interesting....one day I start the car and I feel it very very erratic.

I put the laptop and for my surprise....the analog map was a mess!!!! ceros randomly inserted, very high numbers too...

I dont understand.

September is the decisive month.

wow..that's sick..maybe your actaul program (mpi_tuner) is ******??

Chas

check the log file

could be..but

what can you think if I tell you that I dont plug the laptop everytime so basically the map corrupted itself on the tunner.

Check what happened today (and this is an everyday thing):

Morning: car is fine, boost ok, some ocasional fuel cut.
Launch: car is too rich, missfires, bucking and stuff
Return from lunch: car is too lean
Returning home: car is fine, seeing that everything looks good, I try WOT on 3rd gear then PUM, a fuel cut, the resumes, 4th gear, boost fine.
Night (just a few hours ago): I went to Wendys, car is rich but ok. I try 2nd gear WOT and BANG! Right where the boost starts to build the engine stalls and shuts down. W.T.F

What plugs are you running? What is the plug gap? How rich are you when you get the stalls? How much boost are you running?

well the smt program is very touchy..and if it crashes..and you try to reload it without restarting windows..you will corrups any files saved into the hardware of the mpi tuner. also the program..software on your laptop.

What you should do is get another copy...and when you load it up..onto your laptop..click:

tools
reset mpituner unit
..to clear anything that was stored..

Good luck..

The stalls happens when the car starts to lean out.
Running 7psi - max 7.5psi, stock BKr6E-11 plugs

Check the log file and how the analog out starts sending .8v instead of normal 2+v

You have no analog out going to the PCM. Check your wires. Something is not right. Also your TM is not set to come on under boost.

Of course I do...what you mean?

Send me email

igdrasil AT coqui.net

PD

Im not activating the TM anymore the clamp was not working, fuel was getting pulled anyway, then I installed the FM and some things got better...

just the FM...

I can still clamp activate the TM but it will only clamp the coolant and it was happening the same anyway. Although the car runs cooler with the TM because it usually activates before boost on high rpms or load.

Is this normal?

I made a fresh clean install..

I always had this "tab" between sensor cal and loop limit...but it does nothing at all.

Anyone?

Driving history tab, no biggie, it may be the unlock key! How's the rest coming?
