Update on my MPI Tuner!

wow bro- maps are looking good. I can't wait to try them out. Fedex says my laptop won't be here till Monday!!! Eek I'll have to wait it out until then. I need to pull a little more timing, actually I want to try your timing map.

Tonight on the freeway both a new SI and an older prelude with a ton of boltons wanted to go- I let her rip and left the SI in the dust BAAAAD. The Prelude was at my tail and drifted to about 1/2 car by the time I stoped and we were over 120nmph.. :) But the car felt great!!! 9psi with no problem at all.
You should buy my manual boost controller so you can turn up the boost.
(evil)

This newest map..made the car feel more responsive through out the power band.

And i didn't even have to pull anymore timing.

Also tonite was very humid. So i still need to test this map with some colder weather to see if a/f #'s stay the same.

hehe well I actually just signed in with Turfburn and his mbc system. :)

It's really really dry and hot here was like 120 today. The A/F's still seem to stay between 11-13 so I'm happy. Timing still needs some play though- I need to be safe- especially here in the extreme heat.

One wierd thing is that I bog sooo bad under 3K- so at a stop light I'll rev to 3K and slowly let off the clutch. If I don't do this the car goes so slow and feels like it's about to die. Very boggy. The car just barely creeps along until 3K then BAM off like a jet.... Could this be too much fuel, not enough fuel in those lower columns?? Or do I just need to advance the timing. At first I thought it was an air leak- because that's what it feels like- but I haven't found one yet.

Your reffering to boost lag...I have similar..but prob not as much as you do(laugh)

Not sure how to fix ur problem..that's where you need to fine tune..and pull fuel to make it better...

My turbo spools up quicker..so my maps..are gonna cause you to run rich..
before your turbo spools up..but once it does..you feel the power..

What's the most amount of timing u are pullin?

About having to rev so high in 1st gear to launch..it's your exhuasts...I know this for a fact...When i have my silencer in..the car doesn't need to be revved high due to back pressure....but when i take it out (99.9%) i have to rev close to 2500rpms..

I put my FM clamp back on today to test something. I kinda like the results! 10 PSI, steady 11.7-12 A/F ratio. I just wanted to see what would happen. The tip-in where the coolant clamp activates still has a small stumble, but I will work on that! (laugh)

Please post your maps! Is it similar to mines? Without clamp at same mpi settings..where you runnin much much richer???

Please give da info bra!

My laptop is in da trunk mang. My maps is all 9's in every column, with a -1 Fuel Zero Calibration. Keep in mind there still needs to be more testing done. It was raining hard here tonight, so I got only a few sprints up Hyw 75 tonight where it wasn't raining!

All 9's? That don't sound right..You do realize that when you drop the analog fuel zero cal down a level u need to add ~1 into you 8X16 fuel map in all spots your not boosting. otherwise it will cause your car to run lean at idle and while driving..and chances of stalling is huge...are u still plannin on removing fuel pump?

That's what I had to do everytime I went down....add more fuel! I took away fuel up top using the 1x16 map when I was working on my tip-in stumble. Keep in mind I haven't had time to change the values back yet.

ok..makes sense..

What do u have in those boxe (1X16)??

Like .02 .03

Now? At the top box of my IgnAMP, there is -12, on top of the -9 in my 8x16 map. You do the math. (eek2)

Wow..that's sick..why so high..are you still detonating like crazy? Mine finally stopped..and i'm at like -13 (6 in the 8X16 & 7 in the 1X16)

Yup, the J&S still registers at times. Makes me wonder if I have it set too sensitive. I don't think so though.

bhahaI go away for an hour and miss like 12 posts lol... Right now I think my max timing retard is -13 or so. -8 in the 8x16 and -4 or -5 in the top 1x16.

Yeah I guess it is just the turbo lag- but it's never been this bad before. Makes sense that I'll need to adjust the fuel map numbers a bit since your turbo spools quicker. But which values? I'm still a little confused at the backwardsness of the analog map but love the way it feels.... So for a guy who spools up a little later than you do- around .70- which fuel vaues should I change and what to?

Thanks@!!! :)

hey chas:

I dont understand...if you say that in the fuel cal you have cero, then you need to add ~1 to the 8X16??? Dont you have a 6 all around?

Mine is set to 7 fuel cal and 1's 2's and 3's

You are running lean, and when hitting 3krpms and you feel a great pull is the turbo module clamping...

You need to send more fuel in no-boost area, specially when you have load and no boost.

Basically what he is saying is that for every number you go down on the fuel cero calibration, you need to add approxamitely 1 value in your 8x16 analog map in the off-boost areas. If not, see your post directly above this one!

The bog could be too lean or too rich if you have no way to measure.

I run zero fuel cal and have pretty much 9's in the off boost area.

I'm not sure why everyone is fighting with the fuel cal, it is the hard way to deal with things. Set it and then adjust the map. Resetting fuel cal all the time just means you need to retune all the other crap.

But on the bright side a lower fuel cal will help you to stay under the fictional "fuel cut", since your output voltage will be slightly lower (for the same map setting values).

Ah, nevermind. . .party on. . .but I don't know why everyone is struggling so. I put in a new turbo and grabbed an engineer I work with and we tuned the car in about an hour no probelm.
