Unpleasant tire wear surprise!

I took the car in for a rotate/balance at Discount Tire and while at the gym got an unpleasant call saying that I needed new tires.

I had just checked them and they were at 6/32". Seems that I'm having some inside wear. I got new tires, and had it taken to the shop. Seems that all wheels are within specs except the rear passenger side. It is out of caster/camber (I can't remember which) and there is no adjustment for it. The specs call for 1.8 degrees and it was out 2.4 degrees.

The usual mechanic was out and after talking to him he says he can take care of it, I just have to bring it back on Friday...

The once over given yesterday revealed no bent/worn suspension parts.

I'll post up the results.

I have a problem similar to your, My car have 13 000 km and the tires are almost at the marker that indicate to change your tires ! I have an appointment at my dealer next month so i'll tell you what is the problem !

I think I should be lucky then, I recently had my 5 in for tire rotation at an excellent local tire dealer and other than a bit of cupping on two of the tires from waiting too long between rotations, the tires are still fine with good tread left and no uneven wear.

#1 thing you can do is make sure your tire pressures stay up near or above 40 PSI.

I run my tires at 50 PSI and I just replaced the Toyos with almost 45K miles. I had the rear tires flipped on the wheels twice to move the high wear area to the outsid of the car. We could have easily made 50K miles but winter is here and I don't like the family car to hydoplane or slide off the road.

People will tell you that it is crazy to run that much, but you won't believe the difference.

We always have 5-6 people in the car and the back seats are always used.
