Turbo Whine

I have a question about the turbo whine or MSP's make. I want to know if it's just me or if it happens to everyone.

Does your turbo whine get significantly louder in the higher RPM's? When the turbo first spools up I can hear, and to me it sounds like turbo'd cars I've had in the past. As the RPM's climb though it hits a certain point (I don't know what RPM, sorry) where the noise level jumps up significantly.

Anyone else experience this?

AGR, are you referring the whine that kicks in around 2-3K RPM? I hear that, and it sounds normal to me. It's when I get higher in the RPM's, like over 5K that it really starts screaming. Does your car get a noticeably louder whine like that?

The turbo is spinning faster, so the whine gets louder. Have you ever heard a jet engine spooling ? that is exactly what your turbo is doing.

I noticed last night when I was testing my Joe P. MBC at around 10 PSI, I got scared when my turbo started to make a whine I never heard before. It was like my turbine was really cookin!

how many miles do you have on your car? It gets louder when you get more miles.. break in period...

Mine does the normal whilstle around 2-3, but around 4k-5k it goes super high pitched. The odd thing is that it goes away after 5k, every time. It also only happens under hard accerlation. If i just rev a bit higher but don't give it full throttle, it doesn't do it. Very weird, but I suppose it is normal...

Stepson described what I am experiencing very well.

I have over 10,000 miles on the car. I only noticed it once the weather got nice and I started driving with the windows open, so I don't know if it's gotten louder with age.

My previous turbo cars usually had a linear increase in noise level, so I was worried that maybe something wasn't right. Now I'm not worred, thanks guys.

After taking my K&N cone filter off, my car is completely silent. I can still fell the turbo kick in, but no bypass valve; no spooling whine.
