I was checking my tire pressure and adding a few PSI's to the rear driver side tire. This tire has been leaking air over the past few days. I was planning on getting it checked the next day.
When I unscrewed the air hose the air valve literally snapped off. All the air in the tire of course blew out. I was shocked.
Running late for work I installed the spare tire (also low on air....just 25 PSI) add left. I assumed I broke off a simple air valve. Nope.
After work I stopped by Discount Tire told me the part was $90 and they would have to order it. My local dealer charged $90 + $20 for labor as they said it wouldn't be covered. Bad for me was they were booked all day. Another dealer charged $100 for the part + $20 for the labor.
All fixed now. Anyone else have this problem? I think the valve was the initial problem with the tire losing pressure. My 5 is 19 months old with just 12800 miles. Totally reliable and cheap to run except for an initial tire balance problem.
