There's a clinical term for something caused by butt warmers that get really warm... Erythema Ab Igne, or "toasted skin syndrome". It's a gradual discolouration of the skin, caused by hours and hours of sitting on a toasty warm seat. It's not a risk to anyone's health, but it might be a deterrence to one's bikini or Speedo season, if you're into one or the other.

So, seat warmers should really just function to warm up an icy cold seat to no more than maybe a couple of degrees above body temperature.
