Tire Fit on My MS6

Looking for new tires for my ride.

Have 225/40/18 on stockers right now. Falken's to be exact, which I'm not very pleased with. Not desperate, but want to go ahead and get some new ones on. I would like to go with a taller tire, but keep the width.

I checked out the 225/45/18's on tirerack, and was all set to buy them, but when I went to purchase w/ my vehicle selected, it said that it was an "aggressive fit - rear fender rolling required - .....". That worried me a bit. I know the 45's are almost an inch taller... but it looks to me that I have PLENTY of room to move in the wheel-wells. Anyone have any experience with this?

I DO have some sort of aftermarket suspension, but have thus far not tried to determine which brand/setup/etc. It ISN'T too stiff, in fact, it rides VERY smooth to me.

I want to go taller, or back to stock. I would like to lengthen the gears a bit too. I know even an inch in height won't make that big a difference, but every little bit counts. Plus will slightly aid the mileage.

Any info helpful

I believe the car is lowered, but it isn't that much (I don't think).

The measurements as it sits in the garage, through the center of the tire to the bottom edge of the wheel well:

front: 25" even
rear: 25.5" even

This is with 225/40/18's that are just below the wear bars (~25" but eyeballing there's NO way they're that tall).
I can easily slide my hand between the wheel and the fender, the wheel/tire seems to have a good bit of travel up INTO the well, with little chance of hitting.

Bottom line though, if I have to put what's on there back on, it saves me $60 :D

225 45 18 no rub

if you are doing the 225 45 18 on the stock wheels dont worry i had try a set of kummos spt's 225 45 18 and i have eibach sportline drop and full trunk and five people no rub at all .

I'm curious on tire opinions as well. I got my car with 2 fresh FAlken 329's 225/40 18 and the rear need replaced....and no 329's to be found. I would like something a bit wider and trackable...and cheap!

Ill echo menaspeed...225/45/18 on stockers will clear for you. had that setup fo a while with no problems.

You'll have no problems whatsoever. I'm running 225/45's on stock MS3 wheels, and have had no issues. And, they aren't much taller than 225/40. In fact, when I was deciding between the two, they rolled them side-by-side...very little difference, certainly not an inch.

The tire calculators use mathematical equations. The tires themselves will all be different--think of the word guesstimate...that's all it is.

I'm running 225/40 on H&Rs and have no issues at all with rubbing. You'll be fine with your setup. 225/40 or 225/45 are very close to stock size, and shouldn't be an issue with the OEM wheels.

Excellent. I was hoping they would be fine. Probably order them tonight. Then I get to have the fun of tracking down someone who will install them for me. All the "local" tire guys won't do 18's w/low profiles... gonna have to take them into Topeka, KS (25+ miles)

Thanks for the replies guys!

Any tire shop that isn't in a Wal-Mart or Sams Club will do whatever the car is spec'd for. This car runs with 'low-profile' tires from the factory, they may not carry them.

As said, you'll be fine with either setup. Going to a 225 drops the price down and gives you a lot of options. 215/45 isn't a real common size.
