Other than supposedly being in 2F2F I see no reason as to why that won ... and 1st place at that! There are several protege's there that deserved to win more than that one.

i second that (protege5gurly's thoughts) even though i didnt go to nopi... its a nice car, but not 1st place material. - chris

1st place "MILD"... not wild...i didnt goto nopi but im just guessing the better cars then that were in wild..

There was a P5 from canada ... full body kit, turbo, etc

Black P5 From Alabama ... body kit, 19s, airbags, nitrous, full ICE, fiberglass headliner, etc

Plus mine ;)

I honestly dont care that I didnt win --- my bodykit was unpainted for the show. However, I was shocked that the other 2 didnt take ANY trophy home. And there is another member on this board who took 2nd (iirc) with a lip, rims, turbo and nitrous. No offense to them .. but the other 2 I just mentioned should have placed abover them.

I have a feeling it was due to the fact that the protege's were split up into WAY too many sections and one judge might score differently than the others and so forth ... leaving the points unequally matching up.

Thats why you guys should ALL email CONSTANTLY the NOPI peeps, and tell em the get the NCCA to judge the event. :D We JUDGE EVERY CAR, and its on a point system, not what we all agree on as the hottest car :D

Even with a point system tho ... if multiple judges are doing the same class you will still get errors in consistency.

For example: my car ...

If one single judge does ALL of the mazda protege's he could possibly give me say 8 points out of 10 for my system ... and his basis for those points would be carried over to the other cars in the class.

If multiple judges do the mazda proteges I might get a judge that gives me 8 points for my system (and will do the other mazdas he/she sees based on their opinion) but another judge who scores a protege in a different section might feel that a box thrown into the trunk with the stock headunit might deserve 8 points, and what I have is worth 10 -- but since I was judged by someone else the extra points that I would have gotten from that 1 judge wont matter. What one judge feels is worth X ammt of points might not be the same way another judge feels.

the think the real point is that the car was in the mild class. when i was looking at showing at carlisel i was going to have to be in the wild cause i had changed like more then 8 things on my car. with the interior done like that it should have been in the mild-wild to straight wild class where he wouldnt have faired as well. its a nice car and i love the seats..... since i have a set in black.... but it really is a low end wild not a mild car

Its not based on "what the judge wants to give you for points" we have a set point scale for what mods, and the extent of the mods done are. ALL judges follow this, and the margin of difference is no more then 1-2 points total, between 2 judges, on the same car.

For example-at a IREV, the highest you can score is 20 pts, a lip kit car, with stock paint, would be 8-10 points, a car with a full bolt on kit, stock paint 10-13 pts, a car with a fully grafted widebody kit, and custom paint 13-16 points. Things like shaved handles, CF trunk and hoods, lambo doors, will bring a cars score up higher, but that is the basis of the scoring. :D

As far as classing goes, with the NCCA its not based on the ammount of mods you have, it based on the exterior mods.

For example, not many people will roll a car daily with a full grafter widebody kit, they would go wild. a bolt on full kit, mild, lip kit (mintblue or autoexe lip) would be street. It does not matter that you have a full engine build, with turbo, you got nothing but a lip, your street class.

I fully agree with the way the NCCA judges its classes. Nopi is really messed up. None of the proteges there should have been put into the WILD class. The wild class is basically for extreme body mods -- headlight conversions, etc.

With my friends cougar he is in the elite class for HIN events ... boost im sure you know who im talking about :) He will take out Mull next year !
