Threads on rear motor mount bolt destroyed..options?

Help!
The threads on 1 of the 3 bolts that attach the rear motor mount to the sub frame are in bad shape. The nut just turns and refuses to tighten.

Not sure the best way to go about fixing this. My best guess would my be tap and die set, but there is not alot of room to work with. Anyone have any better ideas?

And if not fixable, will it be ok to only have nuts on 2 of the 3 bolts(eg, safe, no vibrations)?

If the bolt is fixed, you could try using a chaser die. You don't necessarily need to buy a whole set. Chaser dies typically have flats on which you can use an open end or adjustable wrench. You just need to know the correct size. If you have calipers, you can measure the bolt thread diameter, which should be slightly smaller than the nominal metric bolt size designation. Many auto threads are fine-pitch (distance between two thread peaks).

The back bolts are WELDED INTO THE SUBFRAME.

He can't just buy a new bolt.

Before you get all crazy making new threads, try some good old fashion teflon tape. I've done it on my volvo and just the little extra "meat" from the tape gave it all it needed to snug it up.
