Has anyone else heard of these bulbs, there called "DIADEM" its a clear/irredescent looking bulb that illuminates amber, so if your headlights are cleared out, you can still have that all clear look, but still be legal because they illuminate amber. I think its an awesome idea.

DIADEM bulbs, used in clear-lens park and turn indicator light applications that require an amber light, have been developed using one of the latest breakthroughs in reflective coatings. The coating on the DIADEM bulb, unlike traditional coatings that absorb light, uses tiny reflective particles that cause it to change color. This means that when not lit, the DIADEM bulb has a sparkling, iridescent look, not the traditional amber-colored look. But when illuminated, DIADEM gives off the traditional amber light. The unlit lamp creates an aesthetically-pleasing appearance in clear-lens applications, such as front, side and rear indicator lamps, rather than the typical blotchy appearance of an amber bulb in the reflector.

The lamp will be available in the fall of 2000.

To be honest I cant find mention of them anywhere. I haven't even found a place to by them. Whats wierd is I saw an add for them in this new issue of Super Street. I have no clue tho, I just thought it was a neat idea. If I had the balls to stick my headlights in an over to get the orange reflector out and make them all clear, I would find these bulbs :P

Keep in mind when you clear out your corners, it looks a bit strange... There's a chrome ring around the sidemarker light but there's also a visible hole around the light.. It's like... Hmm...

Well, it's hard to explain without pics.. Anyone wanna send me a camera so I can take a few? :D

I didnt even picture what ours would look like cleared out, ill have to look at it when I leave work. I still think in terms of civics cause that was my old car :P gotta drop that habit lol

get some p5 headlights, that way you have now amber sidecorner.

no offense to anyone that has done this, but the sedan lights with the amber corner removed look STUPID. there is a hole there for the bulb, and a ring around the hole that sticks out. i dunno i think it just looks really unclean. a pair of p5 headlights would look much better.

i like the idea of these DIADEM bulbs though,...as i have hyperwhite turn signals in front but i dont like how they have a blue tint to them when off....

1) modifying any lighting equipment is illegal
2) clear corners are illegal regardless of amber/red bulbs or not
3) front corners of the car must have an amber retroreflective material and rear corners of the car must have a red retroreflective material, the markers' illumination is not manditory

such rules are defined in FMVSS 108

DOT does not approve anything. They do not have an in-house testing facility for certifications. SAE and other independant institutions process certifications for vehicle safety equipment under the SAE standards. Once certified, they are DOT legal. DOT rules follow SAE standards and specifications for vehicle equipment.

Are they DOT approved? I was going to order them the last I time I got around to it on www.powerbulbs.com, but they weren't US DOT legal (not that THAT's stopped anyone before)....
