The boys over at Edmund's Inside Line had the opportunity to take Dodge's new Challenger Super Street out for a bit of a drag. The Super Street was built alongside it's orange sister show car to demonstrate what could be done with the new car. Powered by a crate engine that's available to the public through the Mopar catalog, the car produces 525hp and 510 lb/ft of torque and has been massaged and dyno tuned to produce optimum performance at Wide Open Throttle. A 3speed transmission, Dana 60 rear, and 29x10 sized tires help motivate this car to an 11.53 seconds 1/4 mile @ 114mph.

The challenger is going to be just wicked.

I know its a one trick pony and the new challenger will probably mostly only be good in a straight line, but I don't care. Its got attitude, character, prescence and a rumbling grumbling V8 soundtrack!!!

You're exactly right.

The new mustang looks decent but is a little on the chunky side styling wise.

The new charger was just silly. Awesome motor but styling (except SRT-8 trim) was just kinda odd.


But the challenger hits the nail on the head then blows the nail up with dynamite!

I feel incredibly... insufficient... lol seriously though, I think were going back to the days of MY CAR IS FASTER THAN YOURS type of marketing and people will buy that s*** up. God, I can't wait for some 16 year old to try and race me in his new daddy bought Challenger. Time to invest in a box of nails =)
