Swapping stock radio

Hi

I'm from the UK and have a Mazda 323 2.0 Sport which I presume is known as Protege5 in the States and Canada. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how easy it is to replace the Stock Car Stereo bearing in mind that I have never done a stereo install before.

I have got the Metra pocket, wiring harness and Ford Stereo removal tools all ready to go.

Is there anything I should be wary of before having a go at it? I have read that it is best to remove the negative battery lead before installing the unit or is it safe to just go ahead and install anyway?

Any advice is much appreciated.

not really, but takes 2 min. to pop hood and unplug the neg wire. not that really hard (not trying to be sarcastic) just to be safe if your little worried with installing electronics in your car. :)
