Hi!

I have stripped a bolt on my car this weekend. The one that holds the wheel table (not sure if this is right!) to the frame. There is a rubber bushing around it... Now I don't really know what would be the best solution to fix this... would a helicoil be strong enough??

I am so pissed off! ;-)

ummm... wheel table?

uh... huh. hmmmm..... (flips thru protege repair manual, confused)

pic? have no idea what that is. (he thinks to himself "please don't let "wheel table" be an actual part! i will feel sooo dumb!")

helicoil should work, they are pretty srong, unless it is holding the body of the car to the frame. ;)

OK! Sorry for my bad technical english!! ;-) How does lower arm sounds!!

Anyway, here is a pic and I have grayed out the stripped bolt... What would be the best way to repare this? I want it to be strong!

I'm afraid it's not that simple since the bolt is stripped in the frame... the threads in the frame will be bad also...

On sale at Canadian Tire until this Friday:

Reg. $49.99
Sale $29.99

Will remove 1/4", 5/16", 3/8" and 1/2" bolts.

I hope that I never have to use mine.

So? Pul lthe bolt and re-tap the holes. You can buy a tap and die set for like $50 for like 12 sizes...

Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately (or hopefully...) the bolt will extract from where it is... BUT as it's stripped it wont screw firmly... so I hear a TOC sound when I turn wheels or pull from a red light...

Yes, but then the bolt would have to be bigger to fit in the new tapped hole... But there is a bushing that the bolts goes through... I wish this never happened to me... but the mazdaspeed engine pulls so hard!
(wow)

The hole is no bigger because it's stripped, that's how a tap works. Just use the same size tap as the factory hole and it will re-tap the threads for you, then jsut buy another factory bolt and you're laughing.

I'll try this! And if it's that simple, I'll definetely be laghing!
