STR wheels on Protege5

So Im thinking I want to put STR 504 wheels on my protege5 because of the similarity to the XXR 002s. The specs for the STRs are 16x8 +30 5x114.3. Wondering if this will require as much work to make them fit as the 002s or will it be realitively easy to make them work.(shrug)

you will need to perform some fender work to get them to fit without rubbing. should clear fine on the inside.

you think ill have to roll and pull the fenders? because I have BC coils on the way so for now im on stock suspension.

i ran 16x8 +47 on my sedan with 215/45-16's, and they were very close to the fenders. a bigger tire would have meant at least a roll. with a +30, you will be at least a 1/2" closer, and the protege5 is supposed to have less room back there than the sedan. what tire size were you planning?

Well i was planning on like a 205/40-16? I liked the stretch I had on the stock RX8 rims I used to run. I believe those wheels were an 18x8 +?. I ran a 205/35-18 if i recall correctly. I havent had those in almost 2yrs so i could be wrong on the tire size.

RX8's are 18x8 +50. with a 205/40 on the 16x8's, you will have a little extra room. i would still be prepared for a little fender work.

Without some serious fender massaging those will rub like crazy with stock suspension.

Well im just trying to avoid having to pull the fenders. Rolling the fenders doesnt bother me all that much. long as i know that rolling the fenders would work with the 504s 16x8 +30 5x114.3 while running a 205/40-18 then im just peachy.

Thanks sneakypete. it took me forever to decide which ones and style i wanted to go for. now its just up to my wallet to take the brunt of this part ordering frenzy.

Correct me if im wrong, but why would i rub on the outside on stock suspension. im still getting a grasp on modifying suspensions.

stock wheels are +50 (iirc) so +30 moves the lip out 20mm. coupled with a wider wheel, that gives you wheels that stick out almost 3 inches farther than stock.
