I know the stock Toyos are not great tires, but how rough of a ride can one expect from the 205 50 R17's in general? Is it because of the 50 series that the ride is harsher and I get more road noise and subtle vibrations? I'm assuming that even with the 50's series, there must be some good tires out there?
I'm not used to running lower profile tires, so that might be part of the problem.
I probably wouldn't notice so much, but in the winter I run 205/55R16 ContiVikingContact 3 tires and the ride and road noise is really, really good. So when I switch to the summer tires, the noise and ride bothers me. So either it's because of the stock tires or a combination of the tires and size/profile. I've considered having the balance checked as well, but that's quite expensive if it doesn't help, and they tires will still be noisy.
Who has switched to a different 205/50R17's and ended up with good tires?
