Stock amp problems?

I have issues with my stock amp not pushing my sub all the time. Sometimes the sub will be beating, and then it won't for a few seconds or a minute.......then it will come back. I thought it might be overheating, but it didn't really seem that hot, and the light on the amp was still lit up.

Sub is a 10" MTX Terminator(TN10)
300W
150W RMS

Could the amp be overworked even though it didn't seem hot?

it could definitely be going into protection. the amp was wired for the 8ohm kenwood sub with 12awg. the mtx sub you have is a 4ohm sub, which while fine for the amp, will double the currant draw. if you didn't upgrade your factory power wire, and run the sub pretty hard, you should probibly move up to 8awg power and ground wire

+1 thicker wire, and solder connectors, no crimping, this will eliminate even more heat

Guess I will be learning how to run the power wire this weekend. I don't know how to solder even though I have a soldering iron. Thanks for the input

I would check over the rca connectors too make sure they dident come unplugged. Also Maybe u might wanna consider a grounding kit for your car.
