Stock: 5 psi

Here's another data point. I just installed an Autometer mechanical gauge in my MSP. The stock boost occasionally spikes to 6 psi, but always levels off right around 5. Now it's time to crank it up!

One thing to note is that the turbo seems to spool up VERY quickly once it gets started. Now that I have the gauge, I realize that I had some misconceptions about what the turbo was doing under various throttle positions. It's good information, and IMHO this car should have come with a gauge (but then I would have known the advertised 7 psi was :bs: ).

Yep

Mine was at 5PSI as well it never even hit seven on a spike just flat out 5.
Now it is running up to 12 drops to 11 and stays at 10 until shift.
HUGE difference in the car.
Yeah the vacuum part of the gauge really shows just exactly when you are in the boost and why I get such good milage.
I am pulling 10-22'' of vacumm most of the time even on the highway at 70MPH. I just got 410 miles out of 12 gallons with a few full throttle runs tossed in the mix.
I am going to West Texas this week and I will be using my Vericom to see just what my MSP will do.

So... we all hear that you should not go over 10psi..but is it ok it we peak for a moment beyond it and then it drops and stays at 10?

Right now I have my mbc set to peak at 10 for a moment then it settles down to 9.5...but I'd like to set it a bit higher like yashooa has it

So is the magic "10" rule applying to peak (if just for a sec) or what is held?

Once I fixed my autometer, and removed my MBC, mine runs at just a HAIR under 7, down to about 6 closer to redline.

any one know how to reclabrate a boost guage? mine is about 10+ off and i only had it installed for a bout a month. its a autometer silver 20 vac & 20 psi

I have a autometer ultra-Lite and me too, the spikes are at 6 psi and drop to 5 psi steady. But my friend spikes to 6.5psi and drop to 5psi ........... And both(gauges) was installed by my friend and me.

Curious what problem you were having with your gauge so I can make sure mine is reading correctly. My understanding is that the gauge should read approximately zero when the car is off (mine is just a hair off to the left of zero). Is this the best test of mechanical vac/boost gauge accuracy?

My 2310 boost gauge is at the magic goose egg while the motor is off.
I had to mess around with my boost hoses and what not eliminating boost leak until I got it to go to 12 and hold at 10.
Heck I spiked to a little over 13PSI the other day needless say I was SKEERED!
