From time to time, I've heard a small pop in the morning when I start driving the car. Tuesday and today it got larger, and from what happened today it looks like the emergency brake is sticking.
We've been getting a lot of rain in SoCal. Tuesday morning when I left for work, the left rear wheel gave a big pop when I started to back out of the driveway, and I could hear a bit of grinding from that wheel each time I put the brakes on for about half the drive to work. I figured that was just crap being cleaned off the rotor, especially since it went away.
Yesterday, I worked from home to avoid the rain, so my car didn't move for 36 hours and just got rained on. This morning, when I went to back out, the car wouldn't move. After checking that the brake lever was down all the way, I gave it some gas, and eventually broke the brake loose. I didn't notice the grinding this morning, but it was pretty wet so all I was hearing was road noise...it may or may not still have happened.
Any ideas on why the emergency brake is sticking and how to get it to stop? I'm still under warranty, so I can run this in and have it checked out and repaired, but I'd rather know what might be going on first and if I have to get right in or if it's just an annoyance I can deal with for a bit. Thanks!
