Spy Photos: Turbocharged Ford Fiesta ST Caught in Dearborn

yup

and yup!

this would be sweet. i just wonder what the price would be. if it would still get 40mpg, and be under 20k, i would be very happy!

although the 2 is suppose to be a lot lighter than the fiesta. we shall see when we can actually buy one.
It probably won't be getting 40mpg. With the regular one, you have to get the 6sp dual-clutch transmission and the fact that it's a 1.6L is where you're getting the great mileage. I'm guessing the 2.0T will get in the low to mid 30s.

More than likely won't been under 20K either. I priced out a Fiesta on Ford's website, and it was just under 21K. That was with the 6spd dual-clutch transmission, optional body kit & "euro" wing, and most other options. The 2.0T Ecoboost will probably be around 25K range.

There's no way this thing will cost too much. No one is going to pay BIG money for a Fiesta. Thing is..$25k gets you nothing. We're awfully spoiled with cars like the MS3 costing as cheap as they do. I started browsing the car market and NOTHING as good as what we have costs as cheap as it does.

lol i chuckle everytime i hear the word fiesta...its just a funny word.

but yea i agree i dont think it will cost to much.

i priced out a 5 door fiesta se with the manual trans, sport package, body kit, and euro spoiler, and it came out to $17K. So, I'm sure that the turbo would be more than the ses, and come with everything. so maybe 22-24K. At that price, i would just get a speed3.

i can do without the sync, since i will probably be putting my own stereo in there anyways.

they would do well to do a se turbo package, to keep costs down for those who just want speed and not luxury.

Not sure it's even a good move for Ford to call it the Fiesta. Too many bad memories of that major POS back in the day. There are pieces of crap, then there are things even worse like a Fiesta

New 180bhp-plus stormer is go!

Youve seen the wildest Focus ever now meet its crazy little brother! Ford is preparing to unleash a Fiesta ST and with power from an all-new turbocharged engine, delivering at least 180bhp, it should finally unlock the superminis potential for fine roadholding.

Ever since we first drove the Fiesta, and experienced its beautiful balance and appetite for corners, weve been waiting for a more powerful version to enter production. And now Ford is ready to deliver!

The ST is a result of the One Ford philosophy, which commits the firm to building a handful of global models including the Fiesta and new Focus. A hot ST variant of the latter has already been confirmed. The economies of scale that this produces mean the manufacturer can now justify building faster machinery.

Despite a Ford spokesman dismissing our claims that new spy shots which you can see at www.autoexpress.co.uk were of an ST, we know different. He said the car was one of four modified US-spec Fiestas prepared for this years LA Motor Show. But there are a handful
of fundamental differences which disprove his theory.

Spotted close to Fords global headquarters in Dearborn, near Detroit, the prototype seen on our website is a European-spec car. It features a green sticker in the bottom corner of the windscreen indicating that the model was built in Fords factory in Cologne, Germany instead of in Mexico.

The mule boasts some telling addenda too, such as an intercooler clearly visible in the lower front grille, confirming that theres a turbocharged engine under the bonnet. That almost certainly points towards the 180bhp direct-injection 1.6-litre EcoBoost unit first introduced on the C-MAX people carrier.

While no performance figures are available yet, the ST is likely to deliver the 0-62mph sprint in less than seven seconds and a top speed of more than 140mph. This will allow the Fiesta to take the fight to VW Group rivals such as the Skoda Fabia vRS and Volkswagen Polo GTI. To compete with these cars and their hi-tech DSG gearboxes, expect Ford to fit the fast Fiesta with a six-speed Powershift dual-clutch transmission, controlled via wheel-mounted paddles. Twin exhaust pipes, a rear diffuser and a bodykit will improve the Fiestas sporty kinetic design even further and boost the cars high-speed aerodynamics. An extended roof spoiler will also help to mark out the ST.

The Fiesta will make its debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and go on sale in summer three years after the basic model first arrived in showrooms.

i just checked the fiesta website again... and all of the cool options are gone.

no more factory body kit, or european spoiler. kinda boring. but sadly... still looking better than the mazda2. then again, they havent put up anything on the mazda website for options or building one yourself.
