Short Intake / Not CAI

can I ask why you would go short ram rather than cai?
other than the obvious...it rains alot in fl...

The rain should only be a concern if it pools up over 8 or 10 inches deep. When I had my CAI on my MS6 I drove through rain so hard that I couldn't see if I went faster than 30mph with the wipers on high, and my air filter never got wet at all.

Standing water is the real problem with CAI's not rain...

He wants a SRI because there are no real benefits from having a CAI on a turbo charged car w/ an intercooler.

Search dammit :). j/k

Actually check with COBB they have one for the MS3, BUT it should work with ours since it is just a tube and filter.

I plan to try it out in the future. And like evilmonkey said you really don't NEED cai on a turboed car with an intercooler, but that battle has done on for a long time even from the MSP days and it still goes on.

lol that it has....the only difference i noticed when making my Injen CAI into a SRI is that it spooled a air faster as an SRI....

This Car has a TMIC it's heatsoaked enough..It doesn't need a SRI causing more heatsoak....

Just get a freakin CAI don't be cheap...

lol the air from the CAI goes through the turbo and gets heated to the same temp as anything else before it gets to to intercooler :p

cobb contacted me to see if they could test fit parts on my MS6 last week, one of which was the MS3's intake..which is eventually going to be a SRCAI..yep a short ram cold air intake. they are fabbing a box up to seclude the filter from the engine compartment heat.

Nice to know some sharp pencils are still in the box.

Hey now I agreed with him. :)

SRCAI? I wonder what a short ram cold air intake would look like or how far it would go. I'd be happy with the same set up they have on the MS3.

I was wondering if there was any SRI as well. But my airbox mod works just fine. Just remove/unclip the bottom part of the intake box and let it suck air straight from the filter...use ziptights to secure it onto the engine back to prevent shaking since it will no longer be anchored/clipped to the bottom,

It works good, you can actually here it suck, the turbo and the BPV!! It's ghetto but it gets the job done.

well good, cuz thats what your gonna get ;). they are attempting to put ..

well here let me get a quote..

"I have to free up some time to take a look at things, but we want to see if the intake and downpipe work on the MS6 and modify them if necessary."

also in case you couldn't tell..Cobb does not plan on dyno tuning any bolt on products for the car.. FTL

i personally don't think thats cool...if they can test fit, it doesn't take that much longer to throw the car on the dyno a couple times....

sorry maybe i was unclear, what i meant was they are not going to redesign anything for better performance. they are only going to change the design of the MS3 products as much as it takes to make the product fit in the MS6.

they are just making parts to sell, not making parts for max power. thats what i was saying. i'm not to interested in their products after talking to them, except the accessport and if they ever come out with the active differential control they mentioned a long time ago.
