Now what would I get instead of the Speed6.... I couldnt even guess. For the price I paid for the Speed6 and all the bells and whistles nothing compares.

The wife was most interested in the Volvo S40, with the 5cyl. turbo/AWD(encourage ........until I read in CR reports about it's realiability/dependability ratings..
Thank GAWD for CR reports............(mswerd)
Otherwise, I would'nt be driving my MS/6

I like having the room of the four door with the performance of a sedan!
msp35 said:Are we really comparing resale value of a mazda to anything else here? Come on we know that mazda has very bad resale value, look @ what NEW ms6's are going for.......don't get me wrong I love my msp and probably won't ever sell it. But, when you drive a mazda you really can't bust on another company's resale value, however bad it may be.
msp35 said:In all fairness to your comparison, my sister had a P.O.S 98 intrepid she picked up for dirt cheap. That thing was a pile. Glovebox falling off, had to open psgr side door from inside, windows ******, torn interior.....just being fair. I'm not sayin the protege is top of the line either, but far better build quality than an intrepid.
wannabe said:um..yes mazda resale sucks compared to some other japanese brands, but in general its not bad. my old intrepid was bought new in 1995 for $25,000. i SOLD it to a 3rd party in 2001 for $4500. my protege was bought new for $16,000 in 2001. I TRADED it in for $3750 last month. the Protege had more miles, and modifications, which brings the value down quite a bit.
so, recap:
Dodge: 6 years, loss of $20,500
Mazda: 6 years, loss of $12,250
