Rocket Powered Chevy? MYTHBUSTERS

Anyone catch that show on Discovery channel I believe...called the MythBusters.

I know you've all heard of that crazy guy in a 67 Chevy who supposedly strapped jato/rato rockets to his ride and went over 300+ mph into a mountain.

Well on this show they actually attempted something very similar...they stacked three model rocket engines to a 66/67 Chevy (on hydros) each with 1500 lbs of thrust. Each one burned for 4 seconds and they were fired in succession.

I don't recall a speed mentioned but they did chase the Chevy in a copter and controlled it by RC. Amazingly it didn't crash or fly or flip...ran straight and true...amazing considering the speed it ran and condition the vehicle was in (which was really bad).

Made for great TV though...anyone up for piloting a beast like this?...lol

ya I saw that. seems like a pretty cool show. did you see the pop rocks and coke one right after it.

There actually is a Chevy Astro van with a turbine engine in it. It takes up the better part of the rear of the van. The turbine provides power to the wheels (i.e it doesnt shoot out the back like a jet).
BEcause of the efficiency of the turbine. He could get about 4 times the horsepower at the same mpg.
It made it into either AutoWeek or R&T

i saw the show too but i thought it was lame. after installing the rockets on the car, getting a copter and trying to "bust a myth" they didn't even bring a radar gun to measure the speed. thats right, they never knew what the car got to on the top end. the really cool thing i liked is that the car was controlled by remote. imagine you riding in a car and controling your p5 in front of you. imagine the look on people's faces.

So whaT HAPPENDto the coke and pop rocks kid? Was that one fake? Cuz' I my self tried that in like 3rd grade. I didnt die... lol
